Hello to all dance lovers out there! You have the opportunity to make our process easier.

Thank you for visiting our funding campaign page. We really need your help to get this project going. I will try to be brief and concise :-)

My name is Chloe Aliyanni, I am a Greek, London - based choreographer taking my first steps in the outside world after having just finished an MA in Choreography at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. This campaign has been set up to support the re-working, production and performance of my piece 'Meteora' which has been selected to be part of the annual festival for emerging choreographers Resolution 2014 at The Place's Robin Howard Theater, London. It is important to all collaborators involved in the project as it is a unique opportunity given to emerging artists to show their work in a leading dance venue, become noticed by a larger audience and possibly open up opportunities for the future. As most of you might know, financial resources are scarce when young and starting out and especially in this period of global economic crisis where arts are not on any government's priority list. Contributing to our campaign will not only help make this piece happen and support an emerging artist in their first creative footsteps but your solidarity and support would be giving a whole generation of young people in the arts hope for future in the industry and the reassurance that art is still loved and needed.

About the piece

Meteora (Greek: Μετέωρα, pronounced [mɛˈtɛoɾɐ], lit. "middle of the sky", "suspended in the air", "in the heavens above", "within a state of transition"

'Meteora' looks at states of transition and suspension as stimuli for movement. Inspiration for the piece was the area of Meteora in central Greece which hosts a monastic complex where monasteries are found on top of million year old rock formations as if suspended in the air, between earthly and spiritual endeavors. The piece takes an abstract look on the ideas and is a meditation on the constant mobility of our ever changing environment. Two performers walk, run, pause, dance while finding themselves caught in between moments and spaces. The piece weaves together movement, lighting and music in an attempt to create moving images from ideas of stillness.

What We Need & What You Get

Our needs for the production/performance of the piece are:

- Rent for rehearsal space to rework and rehearse the piece.

- Publicity and marketing to promote the performance. We need to sell tickets in order to be able to pay back the theater!! This will include printing flyers, press release, ad campaigns on local press, online advertising etc.

- Costume design and production.

- Artists' travel expenses and symbolic fee.

-Photographer's fee.

If the entire goal is not reached priority will be given to rehearsal space fees and travel expenses.

Please check out the perks on the right side of the page to see what we can offer you in return! The performance is on the 25th of January, therefore any images or recorded material that need to be shipped to you will arrive early February.

We look forward to your response and support. It is great to have the opportunity to open up the process to the outside world and invite people in to show their support and interest in dance and in the arts in general. It is vital to keep things hopeful for the future and even a small contribution now can make a big difference to keeping the dream alive for emerging artists. Thank you for your time!

P.S. If you cannot contribute to our campaign please share with your friends and family :-)
