Released app features (with Mikme iOS App 3.0)

• Remote control all parameters of the Mikme right from the app
  (Start/Stop recordings, change the gain, set sample rates, and file type...)
• Wirelessly stream audio from your Mikme Microphone to your smartphone with the Mikme Lost & Found protocol (QoS). The Mikme Lost & Found protocol makes sure that you never have any dropouts in your recordings as a failsafe copy of your audio recording is always stored in your Mikme and can be synced after the end of the recording.
• Wireless stream audio from your Mikme Microphone and record video with your smartphone camera. The Mikme App will sync the audio and video automatically.
• Update your Mikme via the app over the air (OTA update of Mikme OS)
• Organize your recordings in the visual gallery, mark recordings as favorites.
• Trim your audio and video recordings

Mikme Plus Service

The Mikme product range consists of hardware and software products. The hardware products are the Mikme Microphone Silver and Gold plus a range of accessories such as bags, cases and a windscreen.

Additionally, the software products are the Mikme OS running on the Mikme Microphone and the Mikme Apps. As Mikme can work in a number of different use cases we want to offer the best possible features set at the most affordable price. Thus, we will offer different feature sets of the Mikme App with different tiers of the Mikme Plus Service.

The Mikme hardware products work standalone as audio recorders or as USB microphones without the need of any additional Mikme app or Mikme Plus service. These are free features.

Furthermore, the Mikme hardware products can be remotely controlled and monitored as well as updated with the Mikme app as part of the free tier of the Mikme Plus Service.

We love shooting videos or recording songs ourselves. And we are fathers, friends, and musicians ourselves. So we know there is nothing more important than our kid's rehearsals, our friend's wedding or a new idea for a song. It is those moments we want to capture in the best and easiest possible way.

We have a professional audio manufacturing background. Half of our team worked for the well-known microphone manufacturer AKG in Vienna, Austria. At AKG we developed, manufactured and designed dozens of professional microphones, wireless microphones, headphones and conferencing system. 

Since 2016, the team has steadily been growing and now we are a team of 9 persons running Mikme. We've already shipped thousands of Mikmes in more than 100 countries. We are committed to develop Mikme further and to keep the innovation going. We want you to get the best content creation toolkit on the market for the mobile generation. 
 

Behind the Scenes

As we've already launched our first hardware product, the Mikme Gold, to customers around the world, and started production/ramp up back in Autumn 2016. We have already a lot of experience with production and shipping. With some experience and time, we've learned what is important and have already built a solid production line.

We manufacture in Germany with the highest attention to detail.

As the new product the Mikme Silver is 90% identical with the Mikme Gold we can reuse lots of things such as 90% of the mechanical parts, 95% of the electronics, the same ATE (measurement stuff in the production), production tools and processes which ultimately makes the production ramp up process much smoother and less risky.

We have found reliable partners when it comes to shipping.

FAQs

What's the main difference between the Mikme Gold and Silver?

The Mikme Silver has a 2/3 inch electret capsule whereas the Mikme Gold has a gold-plated, phantom powered capsule.

The Mikme Silver is more optimized towards speech recording and blocks background noise from the backside a bit more.

It features 2GB instead of 16GB of storage and can record in 24Bit with 44.1 and 48 kHz but NOT with 96kHz. Also, you can record only in m4a file instead of raw and m4a files for the Mikme Microphone BlackGold 16GB.

Why are there price differences for EU and US/International backers?

Because we do not collect VAT for the US and international customers but need to collect VAT for EU customers and due to that we need to have a higher price for EU customers.

When will the Android App be launched?

We target a release late 2018 / beginning 2019.

Does the Mikme work without the Mikme Plus Service?

The Mikme Microphone is working standalone as USB Microphone and audio recorder without the Mikme App. Basic remote features are available with the free Mikme App. There are certain features which are available with the Mikme Plus service.
