Short Summary
My name is Kunmi Ogunsola. I'm a filmmaker based in Manchester, UK. My last project was a short film that I wrote and directed titled: Sunflower. It is a film that highlights the effects of positive affirmation and effective communication in families. The film was received very well at both our Manchester & London screenings with a review by The Nubian Times.
"From its contents to the beauty in its mis-en-scene, the short film is a must see" - The Nubian Times
I've always been interested in using my projects as an opportunity to dialogue about social issues. As my sophomore solo project, Millennials is a perfect mix of social commentary and entertainment. This web series is the culmination of conversations i've had with a few of my friends reviewing the commonality and uniqueness in all our struggles as young adults in today's world. I created this show to reflect the shared experience of millennials: our triumphs and failures, our love and heartbreak, our collective desire for all round fulfilment and our rollercoaster journey to self discovery. I truly believe this show could be an outlet for many people, to see their varied idiosyncrasies reflected in the fictional characters I've created.
Contributing to this series would mean that you are joining me as co-creators for a show we can truly call ours. A series that doesn't shy away from highlighting the socially sensitive, often marginalised topics such as mental illness, rape & consent, race relations in the workplace, and a few others.

What happens if we don't reach our goal?
We would probably extend our production timeline to buy time to find other was of raising our goal budget. We would probably also make some changes to suit the actual budget we are able to raise. The show must go on!
Your Impact
As mentioned earlier, the series looks to highlight some important issues, for instance mental illness, particularly within the black community. We believe film and television are platforms that spark conversation and change. We are already looking to partner with some charities and provide our viewers who might struggle with any of these issues with the charity's contact information. A helpline number could be the difference in saving someone's life.
Risks & Challenges
Some of the risks & challenges we anticipate include: not raising our goal budget, (where required) acquiring permits for locations to shoot, getting the right actors and crew, on-set accidents or damages to gear, etc.
However, we believe we are tenacious and could be creative in solving some of these issue.
- we've already explained our plan of action if we dont raise the goal budget
- if we can't get permits, we'll become more resourceful and find free locations to shoot
- Kunmi is going to be working with our actors to bring our their best on screen
- We already budgeted for Employer's and Public Liability Insurance, should there be any accidents. Prevention is however better than cure, so we will cultivate a healthy and safe working set for all present.
