Millie & Maddie is a new comedy web series created by Amanda Kuo & Allesondra Helwig.

Millie and Maddie at its core is a love letter to the important women in your life. It's about finding who you are, even when you didn't have the best of idea of what that was growing up.

Sitcoms are the heart of culture, but female writers did not even exist in network television writer rooms until the 70s. In fact, Less than 40% of shows in 2020 were female led, and most female led shows include an ensemble cast. Rarely do we see very distinct female co-leads, and co-leads of color or cultured backgrounds.

That’s where this new show comes in.

This story is about chosen family. It is a story of healing old wounds and finding the joy of being independent. 

We plan to release this series on YouTube and use our episodes as a proof of concept to later pitch to larger networks and distribute. Inspirations include shows like Broad City, Good Girls, and Pen15. (And if you're familiar with the comic, American Splendor, we've pulled inspiration from there as well)

The goal with this show is to raise awareness for what it's truly like growing up without really knowing who you are. Growing up without your biological family, or growing up in a system that is oppressive and suppresses one's individuality.

Growing up is hard, and one of the best things about becoming an adult is being able to choose who you call family.

The family you grew up with will always hold a special place in your life and in your heart; they gave you love, knowledge, and support. But now, entering the real world, Millie & Maddie are faced with the harsh realities that they don't truly know who they are.

We hope that our episodes will not only make you laugh, but make you remember what is truly important in life.

In order to compensate our crew and creative team fairly, we need a little help. This is where you come in!

Our goal is to raise $4,000 per shoot day. With a total 5 shoot days planned for our 1st season, that is a total goal of $20,000

This budget goes directly to gear rentals, compensation and meals for our cast and crew on set, compensation for our editors, and insurance to protect everyone while they work.

If you donate, you will receive the following based on your donation

$5 or more, eternal gratitude and a handwritten letter from Allesondra & Amanda

$25 or more receives the above and a pdf copy of a script of your choice.

$100 or more receives the above and a signed Millie&Maddie poster.

Risks & Challenges

With any investment in film/art, there is a risk. But we are prepared to face those and come out on top. With 8+ years working professionally in this industry we know what it takes to tell a good story.

The biggest challenges this productions faces is financial, without the funding to pay our crew, we cannot put out the quality of content needed to compete in Hollywood. 

Amanda and Allesondra are committed to empowering young and diverse artists.

Both Amanda and Allesondra have produced web series and short films in the past. And those have gone on to festivals and are available to watch today. Both are also professional, represented, and working actresses in LA.
