How did you come up with the idea for this?

I was a new mother who struggled to breastfeed, especially when I went back to work in a corporate architecture office.  I could not afford breastfeeding attire and most of it was not work appropriate. I wore my pre pregnancy clothes and tucked my shirt under my chin, or removed my clothing. I was stressed and overwhelmed as pumping took a lot of time from my job responsibilities. My mother & co founder (a retired nurse) saw me struggling and suggested using a clip to hold up my top. It worked but crimped my top. That was an aha moment!

What makes your product special?

It expands the nursing wardrobe with one simple product, making every shirt a nursing shirt. It is also a symbol of a breastfeeding mother’s journey & commitment to provide the best nourishment for her baby. It is a simple solution to empower mothers to reach their breastfeeding goals, breastfeed successfully and have a cool & calm (supermom) look while doing it. 

We believe all mothers are supermoms and more importantly heroes!

What We Need & What You Get

Here's the skinny! We need to raise $20,000 to recoup some of our production costs. We have taken the leap into entrepreneurship but we need your donation to sprout wings and fly! We are self funded and heavily invested, so we need backers. 

• Our local manufacturer has gone into production, we need the money to pay for the products and cash flow. 
• Your purchase matters! It is difficult for women owned small businesses to get a loan from the bank. If we have your purchase orders and show the product is in demand, that will help our application. 
• We have been working on Millybutton for 7 years, it took us 4 years to secure our US Utility Patent and we will not be giving up anytime soon! Your contribution will help us keep our small business going. We have future Millybutton designs and another use for our patent in the works, with your help we can meet our full potential. You will be inspired by what we come up with next!

Empowering breastfeeding mothers and supporting local woman owned businesses is very important to us. By reaching out to provide Millybuttons to low income mothers through Genesis of Pittsburgh we are able to make an impact in our community.
