Music makes everything better. Music has been found to improve your mood by reducing stress and anxiety, improves your creativity and motivation, and can even decrease pain and improve your physical health. We use headphones to fill our day with music, this helps make every day a little better. We wear them non-stop while traveling, exercising and working, so it is very important that headphones have all the features we need: optimal comfort, a long-lasting battery life, great sound quality, strong bluetooth compatibility, and durability at an affordable price. 

Headphones have been around for quite some time, which is why we were shocked by the features and quality of the consumer headphones on the market. We found that each had at least one major problem or a set of features missing. Many are only made out of rubber and plastic and therefore break easily, or only offer one way to connect. Most importantly, better headphones cost over $200 a pair and often still lack seemingly basic features such as a play/pause button. We couldn’t find a single pair with all the features we considered important at an affordable price.

With this in mind, we set out on a mission to create a pair of headphones with the best features at an affordable price. Rather than reinvent the wheel, we tried over 50 headphones and 100 components made by a diverse set of manufacturers. Each had some admirable features but not one of them got it right.  We treated the best features as modular options, and combined them piece by piece, while leveraging the scale of operations from all these different manufacturers.  This was how the Modular brand and Mod-1 Headphones were born.

Overall the Mod-1 boasts better bass and comfort than every other pair of headphones we tried, even when the volume isn’t turned up. Mod-1 has noise cancellation through isolation - meaning once music is playing, the shape of the ear cups isolate incoming sound to just the music. To keep the product lightweight, the battery life of Mod-1 is typically 8 hours, however they can be used indefinitely while connected with the auxiliary cable. With the ability to keep using them while they are charging, you can easily wear them 24/7.

Less than half of the headphones we tried had these features we added to the Mod-1:

None of the headphones we tried had an SD card slot.
