Our Story
Night falls, people gather, Toronto's skyline lights up and our giant movie screen entertains.
Summer 2015 celebrates our fifth summer hosting free movies under the stars in Riverdale Park East in downtown Toronto. Our first event was created to spend a night with friends in our local park with a great film. Our small idea has turned into five summers of great films, great times and fundraising efforts for local kids organizations.
The Movies In The Park mission is to offer amazing, zero-cost nights out in the city. Friends, families, dates, groups and nice dogs are always welcome. We encourage picnics, making new friends and singing along with soundtracks. Come get outside in this beautiful park and enjoy free movies under the stars!
Movies In The Park also functions as a local childrens' chairty fundraiser and awareness campaign. We use our big screen to share information about our great partners. This year, we are supporting The Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club http://www.believeinkids.ca/ and Art City Toronto http://artcitytoronto.ca/
Both of these organizations support local kids in their endeavors to succeed through education, creativity, security and community. The success of this campaign will determine the funds we donate to these organizations.

We are using IndieGoGo to raise funds to pay the hard costs of these events. Costs include the City of Toronto event permits, movie screen rental, licensing and screen and sound set-up. In addition to paying for the events, we are raising funds to support the charities directly, hoping to give each of them $5000. For a total of $20, 000.
The Impact
Five summers in we are seeing the fruits of our tenacity. Movies In The Park is growing and hosting over a thousand people at each event. We are very proud and committed to keeping these movie nights alive.
Without the required funds we will have to cancel our events this summer and disappoint our Movies In The Park community. We would also lose a valuable opportunity to spread the word about the great work happening with our charity partners.
What We Need & What You Get
Our cost for one event evening is $2500.00.
This covers the City of Toronto permit, screen rental and delivery, technicians, the film license, and the event insurance.
The money raised here will go directly to paying the bills. All funds raised above our hard costs will go directly to our charity partners. There is no Movies In The Park middle-(wo)man.
We need you and your friends and their friends and their networks to support us so we can keep these events going.
