About Us
We are five students from Vancouver Film School, looking at making our first big project. We're hoping to be able to reach out to people and capture an audience that will follow us into the future as we begin and grow our careers.
For this project we have worked with Evelina Saulo, an amazing writer who's also studying at VFS. She's managed to write a absolutely wonderful script that tugs on our heartstrings and we can't wait to make it into a short film.
We believe that everyone can relate to Mustard in a way, and we think it's a very original but simple story. We have a middle-aged bisexual woman of color as a main character and Mustard is her coming-of-age story. We usually only see these types of stories for teenagers or young adults, but with Mustard we want to show a different take on it and make it clear that this type of event can happen at any point in life.
What We Need & Why
The biggest challenge for us in making this short film is the budget. We're not working with a lot of money, which is why we need to raise more in order to make this the best film it can be. The whole story takes place at a single location, which makes that location the most important thing for us to get right during pre-production. To be able to book the location we need we have to put a big part of our budget on rent.
Another key part in making this film is having a great crew. So we want to spend some money on fees to cover a part of our crew that we will find outside of VFS. Finding more experienced people will strengthen our crew and raise the quality of the production. This is specifically for the sound and makeup & hair departments.
Other areas we will put some money raised into will be to craft services & catering, transportation, and set dec & props.
If you contribute to this project, we don't want you to go empty handed. That is why you can find a lot of goodies under each perk. These goodies include things like a personalized thank you video from someone in the key crew, a signed physical copy of the script, and a digital copy of the film itself.
You can of course also choose to not recieve any perk by clicking the "BACK IT" button and write a number of your choice. Any contribution, big or small, means the world to us.
Other Ways To Help
No matter if you're able to contribute or not, sharing this campaign with others goes a long way in helping us make this project a reality.
