Thank you for visiting my Humla
Medical Service Trip fund raising page!
I am honored and overjoyed, given
the tragic events in Nepal, to join a group of medical practitioners led by a
Tibetan Bon Buddhist lama, on a 2 week Medical Service trip to Humla, Nepal in
September. Humla is one of the remotest
areas of Nepal, it sits on the Chinese Border - where most residents will never
see a doctor in their lives or for that matter receive an education.
I am joining the Medical Mission as
a lay person in support of the Medical team. But in addition, given my
professional skill set in architecture, construction and real estate, I will be
working with the leaders in the community in the planning of a more sustainable
community, in developing a Clinic,
School and future Monastery.
A Self-Sustainable community, is
the global buzz word. I am committed to global sustainability and committed to
supporting the current HUMLA community and future generations to remain in HUMLA. Humla is a very isolated area with little
support from the government, given the recent catastrophic events during
the past weeks, Humla is completely cut off from support in the near or
distant future.
By supporting this second Medical
Service Trip, you are supporting a community in need of health care, education
and the need to create a sustainable and self-supporting community and Nepal!
Financial Support:
Each Volunteer - be the medical practitioner, or an organizer or support staff - is responsible for their personal costs of the trip, totaling $ 6,000 USD + $4,000 USD for a medical clinic and school.
Flight to Kathmandu: about $1,500.00
Ground and air transportation once in Nepal, food lodging, Nepalese staff for camping and trekking, and a translator and guide: $3,800 USD
**The stated fund raising goal on this site is
$5,000 rather than $10,000, as the fees for the site are lower if you meet your
goal!
I made a commitment to work with the people of Humla and Tempe Dukte Lama in the development of a sustainable community - providing health care, education and a sustainable living environment.
Please contribute if you can, and if not possible
for you, but you are excited by the possibilities’ and potential of the Humla Medical Service Trip, please
forward this on to anyone else who you think will be touched by it, and might
be able to contribute, or forward it on, themselves.
