Update #1 - Thomas Vikström Joins the Opera!
We are proud and happy to announce that our good friend and genius vocalist Thomas Vikström (THERION, CANDLEMASS, STORMWIND) will be singing on the new metal opera!
Be Part of Imperial Age!
Hello! We are
IMPERIAL AGE - the Russian symphonic metal band. We have just released our album
Warrior Race through
Christofer Johnsson's Adulruna Records and finished our big tour with
Therion where we played
20 shows in 13 countries all over Europe. Before that we recorded 2 full length albums with musicians from
Dimmu Borgir,
Rhapsody of Fire and
Arkona, played headliner shows with orchestras and choirs and opened for
Therion, Tarja Turunen, Epica, Paradise Lost, OOMPH!, Tristania, The 69 Eyes and Finntroll.
Seeing your happy faces and receiving your support on tour was the best experience we have had in our lives! THANK YOU! Without you, our work would have been useless.
We have devoted our entire lives to creating metal music. Since 2005 when we started with our first bands and up till now, the only thing that matters for us is doing heavy metal. We sacrificed all we had on this altar, but it is definitely worth it! When people ask us what we are doing, we proudly say: "Bringing true symphonic metal to the best fans in the world!" ;)

Now its time for our next adventure. Our new album is called The Legacy of Atlantis and it will be a huge metal opera with a storyline - there will be many different singers, many folk and orchestral instruments, a live academic choir and maybe even a symphony orchestra with YOUR help.
Us and you, we have something in common - we are really passionate about symphonic metal. And we want to bring YOU the maximum power and diversity this type of music has to offer. We want to push this genre to its limits! And to do this, we need YOUR help. Be part of the story! Lets create this record TOGETHER: just you and us!
This is your chance to say: "Imperial Age... I'm part of their team. We made The Legacy of Atlantis album together!"
What We Need & What You Get
Recording a huge symphonic metal album is a difficult task. Especially these days. Especially if you live in Russia :) It is actually probably the most expensive metal genre to work in. So 16 000$ is the minimal sum of money we need to record the opera here at home. This is the money to pay for the musicians, studio time, sound engineer, artwork and pressing. If we manage to raise more, we will open more stretch goals like recording with a bigger choir, a symphony orchestra, a better studio etc. The possibilities are virtually limitless.
In return we offer you the best perks we could think of, which include the digital and physical versions of the album (special limited edition, with your name in the booklet), various merch (special limited edition), some unique items from the recording process like drum plastics or paper with lyrics drafts, and some cool pastimes like joining us for the release party and hanging out together in Moscow... Obviously, including the activity we call on tour "sitting here, drinking beer" ))

Budget
Its always cool to know where exactly your money goes. Don't forget though, that we are in Russia, and things are much cheaper here than in Europe and USA. So here it comes:
-
Musicians’ fees (band + session) - 1000 $
-
Choir fees (8 people, 40 hours) - 6500 $
-
Studio time (80 hours) - 2000 $
-
Sound engineer’s fees (mixing, mastering) - 2000 $
-
Artwork (Jan Yrlund) - 1000 $
-
CD Pressing (1000 copies) - 1000 $
-
Merch Pressing - 1500 $
-
Subtotal - 15 000$
-
IndieGoGo fees (5% + approx 4% for transferring money = approx 9%) - approx 1350 $
-
Total - 16 350 $
As you can see, its a bit more, but those 350$ should not be a big problem if the rest is ok.
What Happens if We Raise Less?
If we raise less than 16 000 USD, the album will be made anyway and we will fulfill all our obligations to those who back us up. But of course it will take longer since we will have to do non-musical jobs to earn some of the money ourselves and borrow the rest of it.
What Happens if We Raise More?
If we manage to raise more than 16 000 USD, we will add new stretch goals, which include better orchestral samples, bigger choir, a better studio, and ultimately - a full symphony orchestra (if we ever reach that level) and a European tour.
