All Too Quiet on the Eastern Front
Edit: We're immensely grateful to be able to announce that we have met our target goal for our tour, and we can't wait to shower our backers with the perks corresponding to their contributions.
However, despite meeting our goal for the tour, we still face an uphill battle for funding future endeavors such as recording, merchandise production, studio rental, and future tours across the pond. Thus, we encourage those that have yet to donate to do so despite the target having been reached. We love you guys more than words can express, but with your help, we'll be able to communicate it through our music!
Friends (and enemies with poor financial impulse control),
Nosy Mangabe is a whimsy-pop, bubblegum-jazz ensemble, that, contrary to what it's genre markers would indicate, is not sponsored by any concession-stand food manufacturers. Featuring six members in our ranks, our numbers have been rising steadily over the past few years, and, soon, the amount of members in the band may dwarf the population of the island from which we took our namesake.
Though currently based out of Boston, we were born of humble and humid origins in Miami; our music, perhaps, an attempt to inject a dose of whimsy and reserved wit to a scene often mischaraterized as a flurry of raw hedonism garnished with braggadocio.
The art we create arose from a romance with the absurd, and gleaned inspiration from the mutterings of the vagabonds along the skeleton of a once-thriving neighborhood, the carcasses of Santeria sacrifices, littered about in a display of macabre optimism towards the notion that the Gods accept chickens as a currency, or the gleam of a gator's tooth, glistening beneath the blue of a Suburban Swimming Pool.
For the past five years, we've burnt through the midnight oil, mining for melodies and shaking down the muses at the onset of a nascent night, and practicing until it died, leaving us in morning.
After spending so much time refining what we love, we now want to venture out into the world and unite it with whom we love: Our Fans! This will be be our biggest undertaking since we worked preparing graves during the Influenza Outbreak of 1918 (get it, because those that prepared the graves were undertakers), but we're confident that with the help of our fan base, we'll be able to raise the funds necessary to venture along the eastern coast, disrupting the radio silence in our presence, and finally getting to meet and enjoy the friendly faces who for too long have remained petrified in the amber of an email or a Facebook message.
Sincerely and with love,
Nosy Mangabe
Friends with Mangabenefits:
While we've never been good at answering questions such as "How many Musicians does it take to change a light bulb," we can answer the question of "How many dollars will it take to move a band up and down the eastern seaboard for a week-long tour." The answer is $1000.
The costs break down as follows:
- $600.00 for our rental car (this includes gas, tolls, and additional insurance)
- $300 in order to produce merchandise to sell along the tour
- $100 for food and lodging during on of the nights of the tour
Of course, though they say that it's better to give than receive, receiving is still pretty fun, and we're going to make sure that everyone that gives something will receive something exchange. Our benefactors will receive everything from albums to personal, original compositions created in their honor.
Even if we don't reach our target amount, any contribution will help to defray the cost of the tour, and prove invaluable in our mission to unite our music with our fan base.
The amount of gratitude we feel for your assistance is immeasurable (mainly, because scientists have been way too lazy about developing a gratitude-ometer), and though words might fail us in demonstrating how thankful we are, we promise you, our music won't.
The Impact
This is your opportunity to become a modern-day Medici; a patron of the arts for what it costs to be the patron of a cup of coffee.
If you like our music, and would like to know that you were instrumental in the cross-pollination of new forms of art and sonic design, we encourage you to donate today!
Spread the Word!
Even if your coffers are bare, you can still help! Money talks, but so do people: Talk to your friends about us, share our Indiegogo link on your Facebook feed, tattoo our name on the small of your back, name your children after us, carve our name onto the side of the moon using a highly-advance laser (though, if you can afford a highly-advanced laser, you can probably afford to make a donation), or run outside and shout about us to the heavens! Just help us spread the word, and we'll take care of the rest!
