After completing production on Noirish Project at the end of last year, we showed the film online to some of the filmmaking community and were blown away by the positive responses we received. A few months later, the film was screened publicly for the first time in London, and again we were inspired by the way people were connecting to it. This all lead to offers to do more screenings, which we accepted, and resulted in our decision to create a "European Screening Series" for Noirish Project.
We've got venues in Paris, Berlin, Helsinki, Dublin, Sussex and London (again), where Noirish Project will play for one night only, with live Q and As. We think this is quite an ambitious project for the film. It was made very much as a labour of love, by a group of people who gave their time, energy and skill because they believed in the film. Noirish Project is not an industry film, it's a grass roots film. That's why we're reaching out to the community for your help. We need to raise £1450 to help pay for venue hire, expenses and promotional materials. We've created rewards for backers, which we hope offer good value, and a download of the full Noirish Project feature film is among them.
Noirish Project is a gentle, humble, innocent film, with a nostalgic style. It yearns for the cinema of our past, a cinema that has been lost to us forever. But it's also part of the cinema of the future, a new kind of cinema - a cinema which unites us and cares for us, and enables us to share those things we know to be true. Back Noirish Project, and help create that ideal cinema.
Many thanks for taking the time to read our message.
More on Noirish Project
Shot in black and white, Noirish Project is an absurd neorealist fantasy, featuring moments of peculiar poetry and gentle comedy.
Synopsis
Billy (played by Alfie Black), steals his family’s precious pearls and hands them over to low-life Jimmy (played by James Devereaux), who in turn takes them to a fence. But when the pearls turn out to be fake, Jimmy barely escapes from the fence with his life, let alone the pearls. Billy and Jimmy endevour to get the pearls back before Billy’s family finds out they’re gone, but when the fence goes missing, they realise their story has only just begun.
