Hi! I am Bob Gaskill a personal trainer and Spartan SGX/OS Coach. I have over 60 Spartans, 10 Toughmudders and numerous other OCR/mudrun events under my belt in the last 5 years. I have been training people for OCR racing in my home gym and home built obstacles to prepare them for Spartan and other races. I have gotten to the point that taking what I am doing to a larger and complete obstacle training center makes sense. I want the ability to continue to help and reach as many Los Angeles area OCR racers as possible. I have been turning them down for lack of time and space.
My goal is to open a training center like none other in the area. Not your normal box gym that does some obstacles or limited training for this sport but one that has multiple and identical obstacles, such as, the Spartan Olympus with the special material on the walls. You will get real life application and detailed training on how to complete the toughest of obstacles. I want to bring the new Dekafit events to the center with the same equipment used to complete it. There will be Spartan Kids events to get the youth in the area more active and out. All will be welcome at all levels of fitness.
I want to raise $120,000 to open the training center. This will allow us to cover operating costs as the clientele grows during the first year. It will allow the purchase of all equipment to be installed and obstacles that will be needed built. It will cover staffing needs, promotions and upgrades to the facility for opening. The pricing for individuals will be very competitive to the area, as we want to reach as many as possible. There will be Ram Fit classes, Deka Fit classes, TRX classes, Obstacle training, Spartan SGX training, Kids Spartan training and many more. We will most Training Center mini Spartans, trail running groups and Team Racing at Spartan, Toughmudder and many local OCR events. We will support local area events like Grit OCR and Muddy Warriors.
More and more people try obstacle-racing events every day and this will give many of those new to the sport a place to go to get confidence to try. It will enhance those who are already competitors to increase their skill level to compete even greater. When was the last time you tried something new? That is one of my favorite mottos and live by. I would like to expand that to many others.
The biggest risk currently to any training center is the covid situation. I have handle covid for my other company as a compliance officer and understand what it takes for handling this situation. Protocols in cleaning and storage. Distancing, etc as needed so I believe we will have a very safe place to train.
