Okora: The Prelude is an ultra low budget 30 minute short devised to not only tell a distinctive original story but to showcase the aspiring creatives attached to the project. Having adapted the Prelude from the feature length (6 years in the making) this is our chance at bringing our story to life. 

Shot in an innovative episode like way, told from the perspective of its protagonist lead, the aim is to slowly introduce the audience to Okora’s complex world of characters and ideas and present something fresh and original onto their screens. 

Written and directed by first timers, Lyston Laurence and Lexx James with the help of our talented cast and micro crew, Okora: The Prelude is the emergence of the undiscovered. 

In the heavenly places, a faraway world beyond what we know, there’s a war between good and evil, a battle for the keeping of the once paradise world ‘The Grey Realm’. Seven evil mythical Gods, inlcuding Lucifer, of great rank and power rule the dark corners of all that exists and plan to fully take over the Grey Realm infecting it with pure evil.

The plan - to use the ‘Okora’ a devastating energy source and seven mortal beings infected with the power of Sin, from planet Earth as the weapon for this.

Meanwhile, amongst the wise men in the mountains and deep valleys speaks a prophecy of the descendants of the Gods. Seven mortal rays of light who with the power of virtue can reverse evils grip and shift the hands of time. Can Tahani and Icarus, two young exiles from the Grey Realm warn the seven descendants on planet Earth and fulfil the prophecy?

Like every project, Okora is the home to its own complex family acting as the driving force behind this mini movie. Each member brings their own creative vision to the project and have either extensive knowledge in their chosen field and/or have studied within those fields at Degree level. As well as having all the professional attributes a film crew should have, each individual also holds the passion to succeed, a willingness to expand and hone their talents and a high level of work ethic. Working as a collective team they bring the vibrant world of Okora to life.

All our actors are passionately involved in the project with no payment attached, enabling us to spread the funds through the production/ post production phase more effectively.
