Each doll has different cultural background and comes with a little passport.

In our children book, these four good friends, Lea, Hope, Jun and Parth explore London in search of a magic hat to cure Mr. Globe's headache! 

While you read the story and role play with your children, they will get to discover iconic places in London and learn how different children can play and work together in harmony!

This book will become the first one in our World Tour collection and we have plan to bring them to more cities around the world in the future!

We are a multicultural family living in London, one of the most diverse cities on earth. Being born and raised in different culture gave us first hand cross-cultural experience. We believe that a lot of conflicts can be avoided if we have a better understanding of our differences and work together to find a common ground. 

Inspired by the diverse environment in London, our multicultural family and our parenting experience, we have created this collection of multicultural dolls and a storybook about their adventure so that children can appreciate themselves as they are, open up to other cultures and experience the world of diversity.

How we got inspired

We are both members of an international non profit organisation which aims to create positive changes across the globe. We have worked together on different projects, including fundraising, taking malaria nets to Ghana and organising peace conferences in London. We are constantly looking for our next idea to start a social enterprise.

Winnie: One day, when I was with Alex at a playgroup, a teacher showed us a caterpillar and one of the mums started panicking. The teacher then said, "if that's the way how you react to a caterpillar, that's probably how your child will react to it in the future too!" That is the moment I realised what we do now (however small or insignificant) can affect our children in the long-term. It inspired me to do something to create positive impact for all children.

At the playgroup, there is a black doll called Rosie and the teacher always emphasises how important it is to give your child a doll because it helps develop different skills of a child including fine motor skill, language skill and social skill. I started to do a bit of research and tried to buy a black doll for Alex. I found that the choices of doll are limited and those currently available don't really reflect the world we live in.

While I believe that representation matters, this finding really bothered me. After many nights laying in the dark waiting Alex to fall asleep, I got the chance to self-reflect and slowly bridged all the thoughts (who I am, where I am from, what I believe, etc) together. Eventually, I presented this idea of multicultural dolls to Rafael and we decided to make it happen!

We always call One Dear World our baby after Alex because it has taken us as much time as bearing a baby to bring it to life! Yet, like the birth of a child, the launch of this Indiegogo campaign is only the beginning and it takes love and support to grow.

This is only the beginning! We are planning to create more dolls with different cultural backgrounds, mixed races and disabilities to involve all children, 

bring them to the rest of the world and publish more children books about them in different cities around the world!

The cost breakdown shown above is an estimation based on the scenario when the project is fully funded. Whether we are fully funded or not, we'll go ahead and produce both the dolls and book to fulfill the perks to our lovely backers. However, the percentage could be slightly different depending on the final order quantity.

Risks and challenges

As with any new project, there are risks to launching our dolls. We have worked extremely hard to limit these, but we will be open with you about the possibilities. The main risk we face is delayed doll delivery. We have finalised the designs, selected a manufacturer and have our final design approved, but any delays in production or shipping to our distribution site could result in delayed product delivery. We are fully committed to making this project a success and will do everything we can to avoid any delays. Therefore, once this campaign becomes successful, Winnie will fly to Hong Kong and visit the factory in China to make sure a smooth delivery to you.

每一個娃娃都有不同的文化背景，還附有一本小護照。

在我們的故事書中，我們的四位主人公：莉亞、希望、阿俊和巴斯會在倫敦尋找一頂魔法帽，準備送給地球先生。孩子們不但能從中發掘倫敦的風景名勝，還會看到四個主人公為治好地球先生的頭痛一起合力解難！

這將會是我們環遊世界叢書系列的第一本故事書，我們將會帶娃娃們遊歷世界上的不同城巿。

我們是一個多元文化的家庭，現居倫敦。倫敦是世界上最多元化的城市之一。在不同文化背景中成長，我們對於文化衝突有親身體會。我們相信，如果人與人之間能彼此理解並願意一起找出共通點，我們就能避免很多衝突。

我們從倫敦的多元文化、我們家庭不同的背景，以及我們為人父母的體驗中獲得啟發，製作了這系列多元文化的娃娃以及一本關於他們的故事書。這樣，孩子們就能夠好好的欣賞自己的獨特之處，對不同文化抱開放的態度及體驗其中的精彩。

我們如何受啟發?

我倆都是一個國際非政府組織的成員。該組織致力為世界帶來積極的變化。我們亦一起籌辦過不同的項目，包括慈善籌款、到加納推廣防治瘧疾、在倫敦舉行和平會議等等。我們也一直在考慮成立一家社會企業。

Winnie：我記得有一次帶兒子Alex去一個游戲小組。一個老師給我們展示了一條毛蟲，其中一個媽媽就有點慌了。老師便說：“如果你對毛蟲有這樣的反應，你的孩子將來也可能會有同樣反應的！”這時，我意識到儘管我們現在的一舉一動有多麼微不足道，我們還是會在不知不覺間影響孩子的長遠發展。於是，我想到要為所有孩子創造一個正面的環境。

游戲小組裡有一個叫Rosie的黑人娃娃。老師一直強調，娃娃對孩子的發展很重要，它能鍛鍊孩子的小肌肉、語言能力和社交能力等等。因此我也想要買一個黑人娃娃給Alex，於是開始到處尋找。但是我發現，巿面上的娃娃選擇不多, 而且現有的並不能反映我們生活的現實世界。

我相信，娃娃所代表的人種對該人種的孩子非常重要，於是對此覺得甚為困擾。在很多個陪伴Alex睡覺的晚上，我在黑暗中靜靜思索，有機會慢慢將所有的思緒（我是誰，我從哪裡來，我相信什麼等等）整合起來。最終，我想到了制作不同文化背景的娃娃這個主意，並告訴Rafael， 我們商量後就決定將這個想法付諸實行！

我們經常說One Dear World (中文譯名親親大同世界) 是我們的第二個寶寶。將這個想法付諸實踐，需時真的就像孕育一個寶寶一樣長！ 但就像嬰兒的誕生一樣，這個Indiegogo眾籌計劃只是這個項目的開始，並需要在愛和支持下茁壯成長！

這只是個開始！ 我們計劃創造更多有不同文化背景的，混血的和有殘疾的娃娃，讓所有的孩子都有屬於自己的娃娃，

帶他們到世界上的不同角落，並出版更多有關他們在不同城市的兒童書！

風險與挑戰

任何新項目都有風險，我們這個也不例外。我們己經盡力降低風險，但是我們會坦誠的告訴您有可能的風險。我們面對最主要的風險是娃娃生產運輸誤期。我們己經完成了設計並選好了制造商。不過，制造或者運輸還是有延誤的可能。我們會努力將這個項目做到最好，盡量避免延誤。如果這個項目成功達到籌款目標，Winnie會去香港親自考察中國的制造商，保證運輸順暢。

Chaque poupée a une origine culturelle différente et possède son mini-passeport.

Dans notre livre, ces quatre bons amis, Léa, Hope, Jun et Parth explorent Londres en quête d'un chapeau magique pour le Professeur Planet. Ainsi, tous les enfants pourront découvrir les endroits emblématiques de Londres, tout en voyant ces quatre copains collaborer ensemble pour trouver une solution aux maux de tête du professeur Planet !

Nous sommes une famille multiculturelle vivant à Londres, une ville très   diverse. Ayant vécu et travaillé dans différents pays et différentes cultures,  les  relations interculturelles nous sont devenues familières. Pour nous,  beaucoup de conflits pourraient être évités si chacun comprenait mieux les différences et si on travaillait tous ensemble pour trouver un terrain d'entente.

L'environnement diversifié de Londres et nos origines familiales multiculturelles nous avaient sensibilisés à la diversité. Ainsi, lorsque nous sommes devenus parents, nous avons créé cette collection de poupées multiculturelles et un livre d’aventures pour tous les enfants.  Pour que chacun puisse s’accepter tel qu’il est, s'ouvrir à d'autres cultures et vivre la diversité du monde.

Ce qui nous a inspiré

Nous sommes membres d'une association internationale sans but lucratif, œuvrant  pour le progrès pour tous  à travers le monde. Nous avons travaillé sur différents projets humanitaires, dont en Afrique (comme la collecte de fonds et livraison de moustiquaires anti- paludisme au Ghana) et organisé une conférence annuelle sur la paix à Londres. Avec ce background, nous sommes constamment à la recherche de nouvelles idées pour créér un monde meilleur.  

Winnie : « Un jour où je participais à un groupe de jeux avec Alex, une animatrice nous a montré une chenille. Une des mamans présentes a commencé à paniquer. «Si vous réagissez comme cela face à une chenille, imaginez comment réagira votre enfant devant chaque chose inconnue ».  J’ai réalisé à ce moment-là que ce que nous pensons ou faisons peut influencer nos enfants à long terme. Cela m’a incité à mettre en route ce projet pour élargir l’horizon des enfants.

Dans ce groupe de jeu (où il y avait des poupées noires), l’animatrice a insisté sur l’apport de poupées différentes pour que l’enfant développer sa motricité, son langage et sa vision sociale. Lorsqu’à mon tour, j’ai voulu acheter une poupée noire pour Alex, je n’en ai pas trouvée.  Le choix de poupées disponibles sur le marché est très limité et ne reflète pas vraiment la diversité du monde dans lequel nous vivons

Après plusieurs nuits de réflexion (Qui suis-je, d’où viens-je, en quoi je crois, etc.) lorsque j’amenais Alex à aller dormir, j’ai rassemblé mes pensées. Finalement, j'ai présenté cette idée de poupées multiculturelles à Rafael et nous avons décidé de la concrétiser.

« One Dear World » est comme notre deuxième bébé après Alex.  Cela nous a pris autant de temps pour leconcevoir et de le faire vivre ! Pourtant, comme pour un  enfant, la naissance n’est que le début. La campagne Indiegogo ne fait que commencer et il lui faut de l'amour et du soutien pour grandir.

Ceci n'est que le début. Nous prévoyons de créer plus de poupées de cultures et ethnicités différentes mais aussi des poupées avec handicap pour inclure tous les enfants et leur  ouvrir les yeux a la diversité de notre monde.

Nous prévoyons également de publier plus de livres pour enfants avec des aventures dans différentes villes du monde.

Risques et défis

Comme pour tout nouveau projet, le lancement de nos poupées comporte des risques, malgré tous nos efforts. Nous avons finalisé la conception, sélectionné un fabricant, certifié le produit et tout le processus a été validé, mais il pourrai y avoir un retard de livraison des poupées.  Nous nous engageons à faire tout notre possible pour que ce projet soit un succès. Pour cela, dès que la première partie de la campagne de crowdfunding sera terminée (et réussie), Winnie s’envolera pour Hong Kong. Elle ira sur le site de production en Chine pour s'assurer des meilleurs délais de livraison possible.
