One Found Sound is a new conductorless chamber orchestra in the Bay Area founded on the principles of democracy and human connection. Because we adapt the conventions of chamber music as the basis of our process, we are able to create strong bonds between our members and our audience. By removing the conductor and performing orchestral music in the spirit of chamber music, we are able to invite our audience to become actively engaged in our live performances in a way that is unique to our ensemble. Using these ideas, we strive to bring classical music to wider and more diverse audiences, as well as enrich the lives of our musicians and composers in the Bay Area.
Funding our project will allow us to continue this work by supporting the costs of curating the rest of our inaugural season. Your support is immensely significant as it not only fosters the growth of our orchestra, but helps cultivate a new Bay Area area cultural experience for the benefit of our community.

How it works:
One Found Sound breaks down the orchestral model and puts the power of decision in the hands of its members. The One Found Sound musicians propose repertoire and vote to select the program for each concert. Providing and unrestricted democratic process for our members is important in terms of empowering our musicians to increase their investment when they perform, thus creating better and more intimate listening experiences for our audiences.
Renting and purchasing music for our performances costs a lot of money. Like, a LOT of money. The majority of donations will cover the cost of these rentals and purchases.
In addition to music expenses, your funding will help us cover recording and videography costs.
