Hi There!
I'm Marieke, a Dutch national studying for
my MA in Cultural Management in London. And to gain valuable experience in that
field, I'm now organizing a storytelling event responding to Into The Woods, the
famous Sondheim musical that was recently turned into a live action Disney
movie. Both versions see familiar characters from classic fairy tales come together in a new story questioning a pillar of the fairy tale narrative. This storytelling takes that formula as presented by those big-budget productions and turns it into an intimate experience.
Of course, I'm working on this together with an amazing team. Jo Clayton, our storyteller, worked for 3 years as Practitioner in Residence at Shakespeare’s Globe. During this period she worked closely with children and communities, organizing hundreds of workshops and projects. And now she has agreed to create this unique story. Cerys Hogg is a musician and more: she sings, composes, arranges, conducts, and plays a wide variety of instruments. She will provide the music for the storytelling, ensuring this will be a story like you’ve never heard before.
We are really excited about bringing this
idea into the world, but in order to do that we could use some help. Which is
where you come in.
What We Need & What You Get
Cerys, Jo and I have already put in many
hours - unfunded - to get where we are now. Research into the industry and the
history of storytelling, research into fairy tales and their origins, watching
Into The Woods many times, anything and everything to bring this idea into the
real world. But we need £1000 to really make that happen. That money will go
toward the artists' fees for rehearsals, the actual creation and development of
this wholly unique story, performance fees, venue hire, IndieGogo’s commission fee,
and of course your perks!

Which brings us to the next point: contributors
are not left empty-handed. Depending on the amount of money you donate, you can
receive any of the perks listed on the right.
Please bear in mind that throughout the
running of this campaign, the project does not come to a standstill
waiting for money to flow in. We’ll be having rehearsals, creating visuals for
marketing, updating this campaign page, getting in touch with anyone who might
promote the event, anyone who might even be interested in hosting this concept
in the future, all while still living our own lives as well. So please support
us in these efforts by pledging £10 and claiming a perk for yourself.
You don't have to give us any ridiculously
huge amounts of money (although we would not say no!), especially when our goal
is not a big one. Really, anything you have lying around will help us. If even
100 people donated £10 each, we would already have reached that goal.
If you can't donate though, there are still many ways in which you can
help us make this happen:
·
Share this campaign on as many social media as
possible, using the hashtag #outofthewoods
·
Tell your friends, family, coworkers about this
campaign, maybe they can donate!
·
If you are in London on June 6th, you are very welcome to attend the
performance
