In a dry and dusty post apocalyptic US reminiscent of the Dust Bowl, two wayfarers wander aimlessly until they find a book that changes their journey forever. OzLand is a film about faith, imagination, and the friendship between two contrasting individuals.

Our two protagonists have no concept of religion, history, or what the world was like prior to a disastorious event that wiped out civilization on Earth. Their journey has no purpose other than to survive... until they find a copy of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This book, rich with wonder, sparks something within one of our protagonists that leads their journey into unexpected territory that tests their friendship, their survival, and their understanding of the world in which they live.

As with all my past films, we made them on shoe string budgets. However, for a feature, there are a lot more costs involved. The proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the production budget of OzLand including:

  • Food
  • Cast and Crew Salary
  • Travel
  • Lodging
  • Props
  • Locations/sets
  • Special/Practical Effects
  • and all other production expenses

To make this film the best it can be and to be able to pay the artists involved for their work, we need your help!

This film was awarded the 2013 Emerging Filmmaker Grant from the Mississippi Film and Video Alliance for the ammount of $2500. With this to kick off our budget, we are looking for an additional $10,000 to be able comfortably produce the film.

OzLand is the first feature length (90 minutes) film written and directed by award winning filmmaker and small business owner Michael Williams of West Point, MS. Michael has made over 20 short films and worked dozens of other films in various crew positoins. Two of his last short films Lukos and Illumination both traveled the country at various film festivals and each one several awards. His lastest short film Kane is now on the festival circuit. You can check out trailers for these three films at www.youtube.com/shendopen

The two principle actors are Glenn Payne of Blue Springs, MS and Cameron Spann of Starkville, Ms. Each are accomplished actors in the region and will without a doubt bring something special to the project. Check out their resumes on IMDB.com.

The crew consists Josh Whites-producer, Jason Lively-Gaffer, Casey Heflin-Makeup, Keatzi Gunmoney-original score, Brandon Murphree- Sfx-Makeup, Casey Spradling- Sound, and several other Mississippi film professionals.

Everyone involved in OzLand has been generous enough to volunteer their talents for my past productions, and with the funds raised from this campaign, I look forward to being able to pay each of them back with a rewarding experience and monetary compensation for their work.

As with all of my last films, we hope OzLand can have a healthy festival life and screen all over the country and even internationally. More importantly, we hope to make a film that is so impressive and captivating that the film could be picked up for distribution either theatrically, online via Netflix or other rental services, and/or DVD.

I understand that not everyone can contribute finacially. However, helping us get the word out and pointing potential donors to the OzLand indiegogo page is greatly appreciated.
