 What is PadBot

PadBot is a telepresence robot. People can use PadBot to represent him/her remotely by showing his/her video, voice and movements in real-time. We can control PadBot to move freely and angle its head upward or downward. PadBot uses iPad/iPad Mini/Android pad as its brain. PadBot connect with iPad via wireless Bluetooth 4.0. 

The PadBots communicate with each other by using WiFi/4G connections. This connectivity are already been built into iPad/Android pad. The shape of PadBot looks like a white goose, which is elegant and human friendly. The height of PadBot is around 90 cm. This is suitable for working in indoor environment. 

PadBot greatly enhance the experience of human communications. PadBot serves as another copy of you while communicating remotely. All these simple, yet very useful functions give us tremendous flexibility for face-to-face conversations. Compared to phone calls, PadBot is a great step forward for human communications.

 How PadBot Works

The whole system is consists of two parts. One is the robot itself, meaning PadBot. The other is whole software network system. PadBot has session servers to coordinate the conversations. After the connections is setup, all media data is transferred by peer-to-peer connection. PadBot has its own cloud servers, which can be expanded for capacity easily.

People can take the iPad or Android Pad as the brain of PadBot. We use iPhone, iPad, Android Phone or Android Pad to control PadBot locally or remotely. The design of PadBot saves your money. PadBot is a white goose-alike robot, which has a stable base, a refined head and two powerful wheels. It is stylistcally impeccable and fashionably stark. The design looks elegant and human friendly.

 Collision Prevention & Anti-falling System

PadBot has three sensors in the front. They are responsible for monitoring the collision detect. If any obstacle is close, the system stops automatically. There is sensors built in the rear side. Meanwhile, at the bottom of PadBot, it has anti-falling detection sensor. So whenever the PadBot is close the edges like stairs, it stops moving to prevent the damages.

 Real time Video Chat

People can use PadBot for video and voice communications. Meanwhile, people can control the movements of PadBot remotely.

As long as you authorized the auto-answer account, you can control PadBot remotely without human intervention. This empowers you with great flexibility. The PadBot team want to build a robot for mass market. PadBot is designated for daily life, for people like you and me. We try the best to look for cost-effective solutions, rather than some fancy complex laboratory equipments. So  we achieve the best cost reduction, compared to others.  Please read diagrams below for details.

 What are the Perks

 When Can PadBot be Delivered to You

Before the crowd funding, Inbot Technology already spend one year to build serveral prototypes. Our team is now fine tuning the detail design of PadBot for final production.

After we collect the funding, the mold will be built first. Due to the complexity of the whole products, the mold supplier will take approximately 5 weeks to get everything ready. Only after the mold is built, every plastic part can be produced.

At the same time, we will start purchasing other parts for PadBot. When all parties are in the stock, we are able to assembly the whole robots. The whole time line is drawn as below. Inbot Technology works at full speed to manufacture these robots.

Note: Because of air traffic regulations, certain capacity batteries are prohibited for shipments by air. Inbot Tech will try  its best to find the carrier with faster delivery speed or reduce the battery capacity for air shipment. Each country may have different approaches. We are a group of young & energetic people. With years of experiences in big corporations, we feel like to build something innovative on our own hands. Inbot Technology is a small but fantastic start-up company. Our team members possess rich experiences in software development, hardware design, mechanics and testing etc.

We work actively in Robotics community. The founders of Inbot Technology graduated with their major in Smart Software and Robotics. When we studied in university, for many times we participated in national and world wide robot soccer competitions. Our team won in two major categories of competition: FIRA China and RobotCup. Based on all these solid practices, we are now utilizing our expertise to build a telepresence robot for everybody.

In our real life, we can only find some dummy cleaning robot or some other plastic toys for our kids. No robot brings communications at home. No robot helps your work in the office.

Though it looks simply to use, PadBot absorb much of our energy, from cooking up the whole concept, to designing the outfit, building the software systems etc. We have built 5 prototypes before the final version.  What is PadBot?

 How does PadBot work?

PadBot uses tablets as its brain, such as iPad or iPad mini. PadBot connect with tablets via wireless Bluetooth 4.0. The PadBots communciate with each other by using WiFi/4G connections. This connectivity are already been built into tablets. After user register their account in PadBot system, they can invite their friends, and start the conversation via PadBot.

 What scenario does PadBot fit in?

PadBot can be used for business and home usage. Business environment includes meetings, remote expertise for medical, user services, dianostic etc. For home usage, PadBot fits mostly for the kids to play with. The shape of PadBot looks like a white goose, which is elegant and human friendly.

 How long does the battery last?

The capacity of PadBot battery is as large as 9800mAh. The rechargeable battery can last 5 days in standby mode. When control the PadBot continously, it lasts around 15 hours, depending on the ground situation and user behaviors.

 How do I know padbot is fully charged?

PadBot have four green power light. We can treat each light stands for approximately 25% percent of battery capacity. So from the indication lights, you could know the battery capacity easily.

 Is there any collistion protective methods built in PadBot?

PadBot have an infrared collision prevention system. When PadBot is moving, it always keep monitoring any possible obstacles. The PadBot would stop moving when close to human or other kind of animals, like dogs and cats.

 Can PadBot stop automatically when near the floor edges?

PadBot have an anti-falling system.When PadBot is moving, it keeps detecting floor edges by two sensors built under the frontside of itself. When Padbot is close to the edge of stairs or floors, the anti-falling system will stop PadBot moving.

 Does the PadBot support 10 inch tablets?

The head of PadBot support 7 inch to 10 inch tablet.

 How much is the movement range of the head?

PadBot has a flexible head, which could knock up 30 degrees and knock down 30 degrees.

 How far away can PadBot be from my tablets?

PadBot uses Bluethooth to connect with your iPad/iPad mini or any other Android pads. It must be within 30 meters from your pad to stay connected.

 Which model of tablet can I use for PadBot?

You can use the new iPad , iPad 4, iPad air, iPad mini or iPad mini retina as the brain of PadBot. The PadBot Apps support iOS 6.0 and up. In the meanwhile, You can use your Android Tablets as the brain of PadBot.The PadBot support 7 to 10 inches of Android Tablets and the PadBot Apps support Android 4.3 or above.

 What languages does Padbot App support?

The Padbot app will be available 34 national languages.

 How is the security controlled for privacy?

The real-time video chat is based on peer-to-peer connection, with real time encryption technology. The server only handle the setup messages. No media stream is transfer to server.

 How many friends can I invite for a video chat?

Currently, PadBot support one-to-one video chat. Multiple part video will be supported in future roadmap, it is reserved in PadBot system archecture design.

 Can I create a video chat on my laptop?

Not yet. We have iOS and Android. We think PC client is a cool idea and we are looking into scheduling it in.

 Will I be able to use PadBot locally without Internet?

You could control PadBot locally via Bluetooth 4.0, by moving forward or backward, and knocking the head up or down. But you can't create a real-time video chat with others and control PadBot remotely without Internet.
