If there is one thing
that we love about games, is that they are always entertaining and help us to
relax and have a good time. We can’t get enough of trying and getting addicted to new games that feed our curiosity and help us to stay away from the pressures
of the day-to-day life for a while.
I know how it is and
that’s why, as a gaming enthusiast and indie game designer, I decided to
entirely create a new high quality virtual card and board game that I could
share with the world.
Enter PAPER KINGDOM, an
improvised game-play four player luck-based card cum board game that is based on a very
popular game in India, my home country.
I have made PAPER KINGDOM
with enhanced crisp and fun graphics and a more modern twist, giving it also a
smart international feel, keeping in sight the kind of gaming profile that card
and board games enthusiasts have.
PAPER KINGDOM is the
perfect program for a group of four friends to relax and have fun together, in
an entertaining and somewhat addictive way – you’ll find out that your greatest
challenge may actually be to stop playing the game!
Four players are required to play Paper Kingdom. There are four cards in the game.
At the beginning of the round shuffle the cards
and have every player take a card. They can look at it but can’t show it to
anyone else. Whoever drew the king card turns it face up and gets 3 points.
Next whoever drew the guard card turns it face
up. They have to guess which of the remaining two players has the thief card.
If they chose correctly they get two points, the
thief gets 0 point and the player with the birdy card gets 1 point. If the guard
chooses incorrectly, they get 0 point and the thief gets 2 points. Birdy
still gets 1 point.
The king can choose to move forward 3 squares or to move forward 2 squares and then move an opposing player back 1 square. After all the cards are revealed, king moves after everyone does.
Birdy moves forward 1 square. Which
ever player received 2 points moves 2 squares and which ever player received 0
point stays where they are.
The Board
While moving forward on the board, (a) If a player lands on a square which has minus one(-1) on it, he/she has to move one step back. (b) If someone lands on a square with plus one(+1), they can move one step forward. (c) If someone is having a bad day and lands on "Go to start", they go back to the start line.
If you enjoy gaming, and
if you are especially into card and board games, you can get exciting special
features while also becoming a pioneer funder of Paper Kingdom:
I invite you to choose
one of the great rewards that I have on offer, with special edition cards and limited
editions of the game for you, as an early backer.
I also invite you to share this campaign with your friends and family who also enjoy gaming and who might want to secure their limited edition of Paper Kingdom.
If I manage to raise more than what I pledged, I'll create two more versions of the game and art books where I'll put all the art works together and everyone who helped this campaign by ordering any version of the game will get these extras for free.
My name is Apurba Debnath. I am an indie game designer, artist and animator. I have been working in casual gaming industry for last 4 and half years and I've worked on many games for web and mobile platforms. I am the author of flash games "Die For a Lie" and "Humble Jungle Puzzle". "Die For a Lie" is a web based action-shooter game which was published by Armor Games. "Humble Jungle Puzzle" is a fun and kid friendly puzzle game and was published by Gamezhero. I am also developing casual games along with my mate, under the name Talltoy Games,
at the same time my focus is on making some simple, quick and addictive card games and Paper Kingdom is my first card game that I am working on and since I have developed the advanced concept, with all the details, and will be taking its full development and production forward on my own, I am now raising funds to be able to finish the project, having a chance to fully focusing on making it absolutely engaging, both in terms of graphics, functions and fun-wise.
Thanks to Chintan, Shahad and Rajesh for helping me with testing the game. It was really a great time and thanks to Steven for his voice. And my special thanks to Kevin MacLeod for his beautiful music track, that I used in the video.
Do you want to know if the game is fun enough for you? May be you would like to give it a try before you contribute! Good news, I have
4 digital demo cards and
a board available for download. After you download image files you can take print out and play the game. To play this game you need 4 cards and a board, also a chip for each player.
