Inspired by the classic animal trophies I set out to find a timeless design you love to look at every day. The complex yet simple polygon structure reflects the modern design-approach. The Papertrophy animals feature a minimalistic cubic design. It represents simplicity while offering an astonishing look through shadows and light on the trophies. Their bright and vibrant colors create depth and radiate an extravagant elegance.
I designed five stand up figures and five wall hanging trophies.

You can choose one of the pre-colored designs (with two colors per Papertrophy, you can choose between 80 color-options per trophy!) or build the white version, which is offering a wide possibility for personalization. Either way you will get a beautiful piece of art that simply makes your living room, kitchen or study just look so much better. They are also an excellent gift-idea for people who just like nice things around them :)

Hundreds of polygons fit perfectly inside each other and build a sturdy construction using nothing more then paper and glue. It's astonishing how solid the final product is if you see the single paper elements used to build it.

The models are so solid in the end; you might even want to wear them as masks for your next Halloween party!

I use only heavy, high quality papers of at least 220g/m2 (as a reference: your regular printer paper is 80g/m2), handpicked from German paper manufactories. All papers are eco friendly and carry the FSC seal.

Building Papertrophies is easy. It just takes some time and regular paper glue. The final product arrives not only pre-cut but with pre-creased folding patterns at your doorstep. That makes folding super easy.
You don‘t even need complicated and long instructions: Simply glue the numbered pieces together and the final product will magically appear piece by piece in your hand.

Once all flaps are glued together you see the initial paper-parts transforming into a three-dimensional artwork ready to be hung on the wall and displayed.

Design is a very important factor for everything I do. I studied every single polygon, cut line and flap. My goal was not only to perfect the look but also to ensure that building it will be straightforward and as easy as possible. In the end I was able to set up every single Papertrophy elegant, yet easy to build.

You don‘t need a blueprint or complicated instructions. Theoretically you don‘t even have to know what kind of animal you are building - the figures form themselves. Some say its like magic :)

Papertrophies are designed in Berlin, Germany,  machine-cut and pre-fold from high quality eco-friendly paper for precision and quality by local printers.

Every papercraft is checked manually to ensure that only perfectly cut and pre-folded models receive the official Papertrophy seal.

I worked hard to optimize the complex polygon design without compromising the user-friendly building-process. Over the last few months I prototyped many different options and settled for the perfect size, look and use of material.

I didn‘t just want to send out sheets of paper.
Cutting hundreds of polygons takes a lot of time and tools (around seven hours for one trophy by hand - believe me I built quite a few ;) )

But more important you have to be very precise in cutting when you do it by hand as small mistakes of a fraction of a millimeter add up fast to an unsatisfied experience in the end.

That's why for the mass customization I'm are going to use professional industrial style plotters and die molds to ensure the highest grade of quality possible while shortening the building process. 

The final product arrives not only pre-cut but with pre-creased folding patterns at your doorstep. 

I came up with the idea for Papertrophy because I was tired of looking at 2D posters and framed paintings on the walls. I also like to travel and love to see wild animals in their natural habitat. So I set to create a design concept that allows me and anyone else to create art in the style of classic Safari-trophy in a modern and animal-friendly design approach.

Using them as projection surfaces for light-installations in the clubs of Berlin I got asked a lot to produce them for friends at home. That's how I came up with the idea of Papertrophy. I redesigned the first seven models for home use and am now ready for releasing them to the public.
