A little about us: 

Hi! My name is Savanna Parra and I'm the writer of our soon-to-be short film "Pearblossom".  I'm originally from Southern Arizona and I received a creative writing degree from the University of Arizona in 2009.  Illegal immigration has always been a subject I've felt very passionate about and I really wanted to tell a story that incorporated the human element of the issue.  This will be my first produced short screenplay and I'm very excited to have director Chad Peter on board (check out some of his films here: Chad's Youtube Channel).  He does really amazing work and I am really looking forward to working with him on this project. 

What the short is about: 

'Pearblossom' is about three friends in their late twenties who are heading back to Los Angeles from a boys’ trip to Las Vegas.  They run out of gas in the middle of the night on California's Pearblossom Highway in the desert and unexpectedly encounter a young Mexican woman.  She is dirty, scared, and has no money or identification but she does have a piece of paper with an address. They decide to help her get to her destination, and along the way struggle with their decision.

What We Need:

We're hoping to raise a minimum of $1,500 to get the ball rolling.  More if possible.  This money will help us rent equipment, pay for travel expenses, feed actors etc.  We would LOVE to raise more so that we can to actually pay cast & crew for their time as well.  We have some great incentives for contributing to our project (producer credits!) and hope you'll be able to help us out. 

What we want to do with it when it's finished: 

We intend to submit our short to film festivals (Cannes, Sundance, SXSW and various festivals around Los Angeles), in addition to some heavy online promotion and an online release.  We aim to make something we all can be proud to be a part of.
