No project is without their risk and challenges but we try to do our absolute best to minimize them. We felt that we have done all the necessary preliminary work prior to coming to Indiegogo. We are no strangers to battery packs, mobile accessories or even Crowdfunding. Having previously done 2 successful Kickstarter projects “CloudFTP” and “iStick”, each with their unique challenges, we have gathered a lot of experience and learnt a lot to make this Indiegogo project even better. That said, we identify the following as our risks and challenges:

MANUFACTURING: The product shown above is a fully functional prototype. We are currently making the final pre-production model which will be ready around Nov 17. The final pre-production model is the model that will be eventually produced and will incorporate improvements such as brighter, more consistent LED ring light, reinforced hinges amongst other improvements. If the final pre-production model fail to meet our high standards, we might not be able to meet the early bird Christmas shipping deadline. However we never had a battery pack product fail at this stage before and initial reports looks very promising. In any case, we will inform funders of any manufacturing or shipping delays before the project funding ends so funders can decide if they want to wait or not.

FULFILLMENT: While we anticipate no issue with shipping the product in January, delivering the early bird products in the US before Christmas is a small challenge which requires careful coordination, planning and execution. The goods will be delivered via US Postal Service and the deadline for Christmas mailing is December 20. Our plan is to ship out on December 15 to give ourselves some buffer.

SHIPPING TO INTERNATIONAL FUNDERS: We have been shipping batteries internationally, as well as domestically, for several years. There have been recent changes in shipping regulations surrounding lithium cell batteries (and we except more will come). We will work closely with our shipping provider to ensure that all our funders receive their Pearl in a safe and timely manner.

In order to live up to the expectations that we have set for Pearl, we have implemented a strict timeline with our manufacturer. We understand that Indiegogo funders want their Pearl as soon as possible, but we also want the Pearl to be of highest quality and up to our desired specifications.
