Which phones are compatible with popSLATE 2?
popSLATE 2 will be compatible with the iPhone 6, 6S, 6+, and 6S+. We are currently working on prototypes to work with other devices. 

Will popSLATE 2 provide my phone extra battery?
With normal use, popSLATE’s onboard battery will provide up to 9 hours extra talk time and 5 hours extra internet time on the iPhone 6S+ and 6 hours extra talk time and 4 hours extra internet time on the iPhone 6S. Additionally, by offloading tasks to popSLATE’s ultra-low-power e-ink display rather than unlocking and using your iPhone’s power-hungry screen, we anticipate significant additional power savings to further extend your iPhone’s battery life.

How do you charge popSLATE?
There is a single point of charge for your popSLATE and your iPhone, so you can charge both simultaneously using with your normal Lightning cord.

How long will the battery last on a charge?
You never need to worry about the charging of your popSLATE, since the battery lasts far longer than the iPhone battery, and you charge both devices at the same time.

Will popSLATE interfere with my phone reception or my NFC transmissions?
No, popSLATE has been designed to meet Apple Made for iPhone (MFI) requirements to ensure that it does not interfere with reception or transmissions whatsoever. 

Is popSLATE fragile? How can it protect my phone?
Despite its sleek design, popSLATE is very robust. The second screen consists of special plastic materials (not glass), making it shatter-proof. Its unique slider design pays close attention to protection, from the Apple-mandated bumpers to protect your phone’s screen to the impact-resistant materials used to encase the rest of your phone, while still allowing the beauty of your iPhone to shine through.

How thin is popSLATE?
popSLATE only adds only 4 mm (0.16") to your phone at its thickest part and nearly no added thickness on the edges. This is nearly 40% thinner than our original popSLATE. The elegantly curved screen and cover glass further enhance the thinness.

Does popSLATE display color?
No. The popSLATE second screen uses a 200 dpi, B&W/16-bit greyscale e-ink display, which enables sharp, rich rendering of text, photographs, and other images to complement front-side color experience. 

Does the popSLATE screen use touch interactions?
Yes. We intentionally designed popSLATE to require minimal interaction. There are three capacitive-touch buttons just below the screen to switch modes and navigate content. The user experience is optimized to take advantage of the unique complementary second-screen.

How do I use popSLATE?
1. Attach popSLATE to your phone by sliding the cover on and connecting it to your iPhone’s Lightning connector. 
2. Download the popSLATE app from the App Store, which will provide you with directions on how to set your device up. 
3. Once your popSLATE set up is complete, you will be able to use the app to find, create and personalize content to display on your second screen.

Does popSLATE show the same thing on the front side as the back? In other words, does popSLATE support ‘mirroring’ on the second screen?
No, and for a very good reason. We want popSLATE to complement, not replace your frontside experience on your iPhone. The popSLATE backside offers ambient images and information at a glance, and the frontside of your iPhone is where you go for more interactive tasks. 

What is the size of the popSLATE ePaper screen?
The iPhone 6+/6S+ will have a 4.7" ePaper display and the 6/6S will leverage a 4.3" display.

What new sources will I be able to access on my popSLATE?
popSLATE leverages content through providers’ interfaces (APIs) to access content for your feed and dashboard. We have access to the most popular content integrations (including ESPN, NYT, Weather, and Stocks) based on user demand. We will continuously roll out new content streams in the coming months.

Does popSLATE have an open API and SDK?
We currently have a private API. Developers who are interested in creating extensions of their content or entirely new applications on the popSLATE platform should reach out to us at

Can I read my Kindle books on popSLATE?
No. popSLATE is designed for use as an e-reader, including its high-resolution, anti-glare e-paper display and ergonomic navigation keys. At the time of product launch, we will support e-reading from Project Gutenberg, which offers 50,000 e-books and growing. We anticipate additional e-book and other content sources in the coming months after we distribute our product.

Can you make purchases with Apple Wallet?
popSLATE’s e-ink screen is fully scannable, so it is ideal for bar-code and QR-code based interactions. Some locations enable scan-based purchases (eg. Starbucks).

What color options are available?
The main part of the popSLATE device (screen and frame) is available in black and white. The side trim is available in clear and translucent smoke. We will be developing more color options in the future. 

Does popSLATE have a warranty? 
We will provide a one (1) year limited warranty. 

Can I change or cancel my perk?
