We are sooo close ...

After more than 2 years ...: Our dream to make a Faroese feature film has ALMOST  come through ... and YOU CAN HELP US to make it happen.

Faroese feature films are rare, very rare. Actually it's 15 years since the last one had its premiere. BUT NOW, with LUDO, we have almost managed to make it happen once again! Shooting is done, editing is done - and now we "just" need financing for the final post production, such as sound editing and mix, color grading, music, titling etc. (Read more at the bottom of this page.)

Filming took place in the village of Sandur, Faroe Islands, in August 2103. In only two weeks we managed to shoot footage for a whole feature film. Some might say that it's impossible, you can't shoot a whole feature film in only two weeks!
Well ... nevertheless we did - BUT we only managed to do so thanks to a wonderful, very dedicated, underpayed yet hard working (and never grumbling) crew and ditto actors! Our warmest thanks to all :-)

So ... we've got

• a final edit of a feature film - 70 minutes of wonderful acting and beatiful footage
• a sound engineer working on the sound post
• a composer working on the music
  

And we need

In order to finish the film we still need financing for:

• color correction
• foley and sound effects
• sound mix studio
• DCPs (Digital Cinema Package) for cinemas
• titles
  
• poster
• DVDs

LUDO is a low-low budget film with a total budget of only € 85,000 (which is about 5 % of a "normal" Danish feature film). We (director and producer) have invested about € 35,000 in the production ourselves, and from cultural funds and private sponsors - and our previous crowd funding campaign - we have raised about € 40,000.

So ... we still need € 10.000 to finish the film properly, and € 6,000 of those we hope to raise through this crowd funding campaign.

Short summary of the film

LUDO is a short psychologial drama takig place during a day and a night in the life of a young family living in a beautiful house by the sea in the village of Sandur in the Faroe Islands. At a first glance it seems like an ordinary, happy family - mum and dad and their 11-year-old daughter - but something dark and sinister lies lurking behind the facade.

The director

Katrin Ottarsdóttir graduated as a film director from the National Danish Film School in 1982. She is a pioneer and a vetaran in Faroese filmmaking. Katrin wrote and directed the first Faroese financed feature film ever, Atlantic Rhapsody (1989), and Bye Bye Blue Bird (1999). Her other works include the short feature comedy The Man Who Was Allowed To Leave, 3 feature length documentaries on Faroese artists.
