Update:
All 4 Stretch Goals Unlocked!
You all are amazing! Daniël van Gool pushed us over the top and completed our set of four AMAZING creatives who will help make Project: Alibi amazing! Thank you, and man are you in for a Halloween you won't soon forget! ;)

Short Summary
27 year old singer, Talbot Griffin, loses
his job, his girlfriend and his apartment and decides to chase his
dreams by taking a road trip from New York to LA one week before Hallowe’en…but
the road doesn’t lead quite where he expects it to.
Project: Alibi (its working title) is a FREE Hallowe’en comedy-horror story told uniquely
and frighteningly in real-time through social media, and will drag you into the
scariness like never before. For the
week leading up to Hallowe’en night, you’ll virtually travel in real-time with
our hero Talbot as he descends deeper and deeper into a place from which there
seems no escape.
But How is it Different?
Project : Alibi is a ghost
story for the digital age, putting you right at the center of the macabre and
creepy things happening to Talbot. In
the same way you keep close to all your online friends, Project : Alibi is more an experience than mere story and will play
out in your day-to-day digital life, at times literally reaching out and pulling
you right back in when you least expect it. You think the ghost stories from
your youth under a blanket with flashlights were scary? This interactive ghost
story will inject itself into your life for an entire week on the run up to
Hallowe’en, and in a way that you’ve never experienced it, guaranteed.*
*But don’t worry, if it gets too
intense you can chicken out opt-out at any time.
Who We Are
Brought to you by Steve Peters (No Mimes Media) and Alison Norrington (storycentral), this is a
project we’ve been eager to bring to you for a quite some time, without the
shackles of clients or serving someone else’s story. Steve is known for
his Experience Design mastery on projects such as the Emmy-winning
webseries Dirty Work, and for the
film Watchmen as well as over a dozen Alternate Reality Games; and Alison is known for audience-focused experiences, digital
storytelling and bringing mischief to her work with Disney Imagineering R&D, FOX, Harlequin's
'Chatsfield', Sweden's Musikhjalpen and the Eurovision Academy.
How Will It Work?
We don't want to reveal too much
just yet, but the project will, for the first time, use a popular social
platform as its main storytelling channel. You won't need to sign up to a
creepy amount of platforms, there's no horrifying point in asking you to follow
a scary amount of characters.
Simply “FRIEND” Talbot, and off
you’ll go on a crazy journey like a maxed-out mix of Rocky Horror meets World's
End meets Twilight Zone with a spattering of Inside Llewyn Davis...
Immersive, exciting, mysterious and
just a little intriguing Project: Alibi will ask you to question
your alibis and to be careful what you wish for...
Contributors will help to get Project:
Alibi off the ground and into your own devices quicker than you can say
'little blue box'...
What We Need & What You Get
OK, so what do we want and why do we want it?
We're looking for $4,027 to cover some scouting and hard production costs, implementation and seeding. C'mon, Talbot Griffin needs a life before we can put him up a tree and throw stones at him.
Unique Perks? For real! You guys will get some cool stuff. How about this for starters:
-

NEW! What’s a road-trip without a nice frosty beverage on ice? You get a classic Nesbitt’s Orange Soda to parch your thirst.
-

NEW! A road trip wouldn’t be a road trip without a little wahini to keep you company! You get a dashboard hula girl to hang loose with you for those long drives across the country.
-

NEW! Make one last stop before heading out across the desert! Look, there’s a sign up ahead! You get a retro-cool embossed Thirsty's Diner metal sign (14" x 7 3/4") AND a refreshing classic bottle of Nesbitt’s Orange Soda to remind you of your journey.
-

NEW! Talbot's brooding indie folk/rock artist T-shirt! I totally want one of these! (Note: preliminary design only)
- We have a limited edition of imaginary candles to see you through the darkness
![]()
- Handwritten Thank You postcards from our story's mysterious location
- A personalised phone call to literally scare the crap out of you on or around Hallowe'en night
![]()
- A super cool and seriously antique key to remind you of your journey and unlock those memories

- Want to be IN our story? Heck, OK we can do that too (sure you won't be too scared? When we say immersive, we mean immersive!)
- If we exceed our goal, we'll scale up! We've got way too many
fun/scary/fun ideas for this, and the more resources we have, the more we'll be able to serve up on a plate.
- And if we don't reach our entire goal we'll just have to scale down Project: Alibi to make it work. But hey, that's not an option, is it?
The Impact
You groovy people will have a huge impact on Project: Alibi by helping us hit $4027 because:
- This is a story we've crafted for you. Not for a client or to respond to a brief, but because we want to make some fun stuff. That involves a road trip. And Hallowe'en. And Talbot Griffin. And his music.
- But aside from all the fun and giggles, Project: Alibi is a valuable opportunity to use this world-renowned social media platform to bring you an awesome story. And did we mention that it hasn't been used for storytelling yet? Oh, and did we mention that we've just got the green-light from this platform provider to help keep Project:Alibi afloat. Meaning - they won't shut us down when they find out it's all a fun story! How cool is that?
- Most of all, this will be fun and we'd love you to be on this journey with us. It's not going to change the world but might just create a little shiver of extra creepiness if you can figure it all out by midnight on Hallowe'en.
Risks & Challenges
Discoverability is always a huge hurdle to overcome, which is why we decided to run this campaign during August (when you're all more likely to be on vacation, laying by the pool, feeling carefree and willing to part with your hard-earned cash, right?). Not really, we're running this throughout August so that we can dive into deep development during September and testing during October. We believe we can amplify our chances of Project: Alibi being 'found' by conducting some specific research and development during September that will have young singer/songwriter in all the right places at all the right times.
Other Ways You Can Help
And we get it if you can't (or don't want to) help us reach our funding goal.
We won't hate you for it. (We might send some Hallowe'en mischief your way, but hey, it's all part of the service).
There are other ways you can help though.
- Use this link to help us spread the word about our campaign. Please. Could you? Would you? Should you?
And that's all there is to it.
BIG thanks.
