Why Project Rogue?
Hi, I’m Raymond Herrera. Over the years, close friends of mine and I have discussed working together on songs, album projects, music collaborations and video game project collaborations etc.. During the fall of 2013 I decide to figure out how I would be able to put a project together that would include the very people that I want to work with and/or could work great with one another.
My good buddy Dean Martinetti and I discussed what he thought of the idea of putting our friends together from different bands to make an album and how doing a crowd-funding campaign could be a great way to do it. The more we learned about this phenomenon known as crowd-funding, the more it made sense for us to go the crowd-funding route.
Most of us have been doing music for decades and are very fortunate to have a foundation of fans that follow us and our work as we have built our careers in this ever evolving industry. Offering a project of this magnitude direct to our fans, and having fans be a part of it, could make for an amazing combination.
I have been doing music collaborations in the Video Games Industry for almost two decades. A collaboration model like this isn't really new for me, and will make it fairly easy to be the hub tying everyone together. I have had the pleasure of working with some of the amazing talent on this list, some material has already been created and has been a great jumping off point, sparking the interest of the possibilities of who best can add their talents to what songs, serving as a great proof of concept from a song creation standpoint. Rounding out these songs will be a matter of getting tempo and guidelines on the aspects of a song/s that may still need a verse or bridge or intro etc…then getting those elements to the proper musician etc..., then to start adding those elements to pick the best ones.
We have a great list of very strong songwriters and players. I think that our biggest challenge may be weeding out the bottom 10% of material, BUT since we are doing this via crowd-funding, we will be able to have our contributors help to pick those very songs and be part of the record at this granular level. Which brings me to the next points...
