Will the PuzzlePhone work worldwide?
All major LTE bands are covered and you can select your carrier (i.e.: AT&T, VzW or T-Mobile) by yourself.
The PuzzlePhone is a true world phone, but full LTE performance and coverage may vary around the globe. In this first stage the PuzzlePhone will be certified for CE and FCC and will operate in all networks.
Will I be able to choose carrier?
As long as your carrier of choice sells or provide you with a SIM you will be able to use the PuzzlePhone.
Does the PuzzlePhone support dual SIM?
Dual SIM is not supported in this 1st version of the PuzzlePhone, but you can upgrade your Brain module later on with dual SIM compatible.
Will there be PuzzlePhones with smaller than 5" screens?
At this moment we are focusing on the 5" size factor. In the future we expect that there will be PuzzlePhone Compatible devices in bigger sizes. Smaller than 5" screen sizes for the PuzzlePhone are not planned for this first generation.
Will there be third-party pieces?
We are developing the PuzzlePhone Compatible Open Standard for third parties to develop compatible modules.
How much storage memory has the PuzzlePhone?
The PuzzlePhone is available in three storage memory configurations: 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB.
Is there support for microSD cards in the PuzzlePhone?
Yes, the Brain module supports one microSD card.
How long will the battery last?
Expected autonomy in 3G should at least:

What kind of Android runs the PuzzlePhone?
This first stage PuzzlePhone is going to be based in the most current and stable candy version of Android available at the time of manufacturing.
PuzzlePhone is going to be Android to have a familiar user experience and because without GoogleApps there is no Play Store apps and that's not commercially viable nowadays.
As part of the PuzzlePhone Compatible Open Standard, after this first stage, we will promote Brains with Android AOSP and other OS, like Sailfish.
What happens if the screen breaks?
The beauty of modularity as than you can take several paths at the same time, for instance: you can buy a new Spine module and replace the broken one in a minute, then and depending on the damage you can fix the broken one by yourself, send it back to us for repair or if it is absolutely destroyed put it into the recycling bin.
Where can I buy replacement modules?
Directly from us and also through our preferred distributors, we are working as we speak to make them available in the major wholesalers from regular manufacturing Day 1.
When will I receive my order?
The first units are expected to be delivered in September 2016. Please check your pledge’s expected delivery dates.

Why the PuzzlePhone campaign is not delivering to my region?
This first version of the PuzzlePhone will be certified for CE and FCC so we are delivering only to the countries where those certifications are valid. The PuzzlePhone will work in other networks and countries, but will not be certified for those areas in this first stage.
Once this campaign backers get their PuzzlePhone delivered we will continue the certification process for other countries. If you live in a country not listed and want to know how to get a PuzzlePhone please contact us.

Our first idea was creating this crowdfunding campaign as a Fixed Funding campaign. But we have to change plans as the Indiegogo platform only allows Paypal payments for Fixed Funding campaigns. For convenience to our backers we have opted for a Flexible Funding campaign to have a wider selection of payment options.
An Indiegogo flexible campaign means that we can keep the money even if we do not reach the goal. But that doesn’t mean that the project is going to disappear if the goal is not reached. Mainly because we have public and private funds for R&D as you can check PuzzlePhone gets EU support. As you see we didn’t came out of the blue, neither our partners: we have been planning and working in the original concept for more than two years now. So let’s make this clear: no one can develop a totally new smartphone for 250K EUR, that only pays the manufacturing setup costs, not the R&D.
Thanks to the advantages of manufacturing in Finland where a new wave of state of the art highly efficient facilities that does not rely on massive numbers we can produce batches as short as 100 units. And the implications of this new and leaner ways of manufacturing have deeper implications: with The PuzzlePhone we are also proving that it is cost-efficient and compatible with Finnish living standards to Design, Engineer and Manufacture trustworthy devices in a highly developed country.
Nothing to hide here our dear backers and we kindly invite the press to visit us and meet our team and R&D premises in Espoo and Oulu city, or to meet us at the forthcoming Slush event in Helsinki. It will be interesting for media to check with their own eyes what is behind trending hashtags such as #Industry4.0
So with or without goals you will receive your perk: a symbol of a new breed of devices designed to last but also and perhaps more important, you will be supporting local economies and promoting the Finnish living standards.
We are rebooting years of blindly outsourcing here and you have the opportunity to join our pilot program, be a pioneer and own a collectors piece of engineering.
Risks and challenges
The very nature of this new modular device and the advancements and
breakthroughs we will experience in development means that the exact component
list will change and evolve until we enter production. This is to ensure we’re
picking the best available part at the time. In case we have to change a major
feature or component, we will replace it with something at least as innovative
or even better.
We have worked on the
PuzzlePhone for almost three years. As with all
crowdfunding projects, and especially in complex developments like this, there
is the risk of delay. Tooling and molding can be challenging. To closely
supervise manufacturing we work with local suppliers, so that we can constantly
monitor the process in order to avoid delays. We care about local
manufacturing. It allows us to make better products.
