Launch of Quackers

As Dads ourselves, we are so critical of children’s products. We understand how important it is for parents to feel at ease with the products that their little ones are playing with.
Back in 2016 we were so busy with the growth of business, the first opportunity to play with the children was bath time. I had noticed that there was often mould and mildew growing inside my children’s bath toys, naturally this wasn’t healthy for them and I challenged myself to find a solution. Bath Ducks have been around for years and will continue to be the staple bath toy.

During our Brands infancy, we made some fantastic working relationships with numerous factories in China. Mark and I had discussed some ideas before flying to China but really wanted to take some expertise from our trusted manufacturers. We worked together to develop a duck that had a very small hole in the bottom, it was then sealed up with glue to ensure that water did not enter the duck.
Early in 2017, our order arrived. We were so excited to get them out there. The ducks sold phenomenally well. Any new product brought to market, we proactively ask our customer base for reviews on our products, we started to get feedback that although initially they weren’t taking in water but after a period of time the glue broke down letting some moisture in.
Undeterred and willing to go the extra mile to make this work, we continued our research. We realised that the bath water that could make its way in to the ‘regular’ bath ducks, was giving it the buoyancy, which enabled them to float. We went back to the drawing board.
Meanwhile a report was published by the Swiss federal institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, ETH and the University of Illinois counted microbes swimming inside the bath toys. The murky water that bath toys released when squeezed, contained potentially pathogenic bacteria in 4/5 toys studied. It was all over the media and families everywhere were questioning the staple bath toys that they’d trusted for years.
As a result of this report, these bath toys made the headlines, for all the wrong reasons. Mums across the world, were taking to Twitter and Instagram to share their murky bath ducks.

Over the last year, we have worked incredibly hard to find the right team in China, who will work with us in ensuring production is completed to the highest standards.
We are so proud to have finally developed the ‘perfect duck’ which is fully sealed with a unique plug and weight system. Not only does it keep water out, it also enables the duck to float upright every time.
Why Are We Crowdfunding
![]()
We have manufactured some prototypes for testing alongside our current customer base to ensure we bring our consumers a product that’s ready for market. We chose crowdfunding since it provides us the opportunity to work with early adopters first - those that love what we’re creating almost as much as we do.
The money raised with this campaign will go towards funding the mass production of our duck ranges, moulding costs and then bringing them to mass market with targeted marketing campaigns helping launch them into numerous retailers who have already shown a keen interest.
