The fl!P leverages two of the most powerful learning techniques: retrieval practice, and spacing
Retrieval Practice, also called ‘Testing Effect’ is any activity that incites you to generate an answer to a question. It can take many forms: quizzes, multiple choice tests or simply flashcards. It has consistently been proven to help learners improve retention and recall (and subsequently exam performance).
The spacing effect is the phenomenon whereby learning is more efficient when studying is spread out over time, as opposed to studying the same amount of content in a single session.
Spaced repetition, the technique implemented in the fl!P's learning algorithms, is a methodology that combines these two effects with truly impressive results.

In late 2016, Emmanuel and his wife had an idea for a fun learning device for children. Emmanuel started putting together some electronic components and e-paper screens, and he and his wife quickly imagined digitising flashcards and transferring them to the device.
The rest of the story involves a lot of soldering, 3D-printing, and let's face it, quite a deal of good old scotch tape.

You will be able to import any card you are already learning and more:

- Explore and choose from our library of 500,000+ flashcards
- Create and upload your own flashcards
How do I add cards to the fl!P?
You'll have a companion app on your phone and the web and you will be able to pick and upload the sets you want to study on the fl!P via Bluetooth and Wifi.
The app will also help you track and schedule your progress, create additional study sets, etc.
What is the benefit of using the fl!P instead of a regular flashcard app?
Apps may generally be more versatile, but they drain your battery, tire your eyes and push you distractions (notifications and ads) that just kill your learning effort.
