Reality Incognita is a retro-style PC game inspired by our love for vintage games.  Style-wise, it is similar to “Alien Virus” and “Return to Mysterious Island”.  The player wakes up with amnesia, in some kind of ship.  She doesn’t know what kind of ship it is, where it is going, or why she is on the ship.  She doesn’t even remember her name.

The game uses this environment of complete mystery to allow the player to start discovering things about themselves.  Our starting place is a cryo chamber that includes a dead body in one of the pods, and several empty pods, one of which has been smashed by someone.  This homage to movie favorites Event Horizon and Alien is complete right down to the player’s initial clothing.

As the player begins to examine their surroundings, you’ll enjoy adventure gameplay using a standard HUD that allows you to examine locations and artifacts within the scenes, open and close doors/hatches/pods, taking inventory items, and using them.  Later in the game the player will be able to build things out of various inventory items and use the construction as a separate inventory item!

Another great part of Reality Incognita is the dialogue options where the player interacts with computers and robots, trying to discover more about who and where they are.  The player gets to enjoy that vintage adventure vibe, which you just don’t see much of any more.  The in game conversations are long, and heavily branched, just like conversations IRL.  We have found that with Reality Incognita, the vintage vibe works really well within our intellectually charged setup.

Reality Incognita includes many vintage Adventure Game Features that you just don’t see in newer games.  For instance, there are multiple solutions for quests, though some might lead to Trap Situations.
The user might accidentally waste an item that they need later, with no warning from the game.  If the player needs it later, they will not be able to find it.  There is even the potential of wasting substantial trying to recover the item, and losing the game due to the absence of the item.  Older gamers may remember these kinds of traps in Sierra’s “King Quest 6: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow”.

Conversely, the player will also pick up some items that will merely burden them, and cause them to think too much of how to use it, when there is no use for it at all.
Finally, the ultimate Trap Situation is Perma-Death, with no retry buttons.

These vintage Adventure Game Features create more threats and opportunities to lose, which significantly spices up the game play.

WHERE WE’RE AT

As you can see from the download, we still have a ways to go before we can offer a complete adventure gaming experience.  We still need to finalize the graphics, and several areas of the ship to be used in gameplay.  But even with the downloadable demo, you can see that that sound, music, and awesome voice acting already present a very well-defined game.
Once we have the resources to complete it, Reality Incognita promises an engaging Space Horror Adventure in the style of vintage Point and Click games.  With your support, we’ll be able to complete Reality Incognita and present Adventure Horror Fans with a Game Worth Playing!

Dire Boar Games is a truly global and multicultural team.  I live in Israel, and I’m the Programmer, Story Writer, and overall Boss.  I work with freelancers in:

 I learned to program and create games just so I could bring my concept of Reality Incognita to life.  It has taken my team a year to bring the game to its current state, and I know that with Your Indiegogo resources we can have the game complete, and ready to distribute, in two more years!
The funds raised here will be used to feed and support myself and my International team of Artists, Composers and Actors so that you will be able to play the complete version of Reality Incognita very soon.

HOW DOES THE CROWDFUNDING WORK?

This is not a Fixed Funding campaign.  If we become fully funded, we will finish and distribute the game quickly.  If we are only partially funded, every dime we receive will go to the completion of Reality Incongnita.  It will simply take longer to complete and launch.  
But because the amount of resources we need to complete the game is fairly low compared to most games, I’m sure that you and your friends will help us complete Reality Incognita in record time.

Our budget is only $50,000.  Indiegogo will take 8% of that so that they can continue to offer and support this wonderful crowdfunding platform. That leaves us with $46,000 that will be directed 100% into the completion and launch of Reality Incognita.
