Who We Are
My name is Lexi Graboski; I’m an actress and producer living in Los Angeles. I have a BA in Theater Arts from Loyola Marymount University. I’ve been working in front of and behind the camera for the past few years but I’m about to get back to my roots in the theater.
I’m really excited to be teaming with Kelly Shea and her non-profit The Collective Studio: Los Angeles to bring both Reasons To Be Pretty and Reasons To Be Happy to life this fall. We also have actor/director extraordinaire Jeffrey Meek to helm the ship as the director. You may know Jeff from his work on the silver screen over the years. He is also the Artistic Director of PlayFest Santa Barbara.
There are so many amazing artists that don’t get to spread their wings in the theater in Los Angeles, and we will be very lucky to employ a handful of talented and dedicated people. For the community, putting on a play is like starting a conversation. This conversation to me is about beauty, attraction, love, self-discovery, growing up, and communication, or lack there of. Our project is unique because we will be doing a play and its sequel in two consecutive weekends – giving the audience a chance to catch up or refresh their memory of Neil LaBute’s great works before his third play in the series premieres.
As a contributor you can be proud of creating jobs for artists and helping us develop characters the audience can relate to in a therapeutic way.
Our Production Will Gave Back to the Community
We are all very passionate about giving back. Although we need to fundraise for the production, we are not taking a profit for ourselves. That’s why a portion of every ticket sale will be donated to the Center for Non-Violent Communication. The CNVC is a global organization that supports the learning and sharing of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and helps people peacefully and effectively resolve conflicts in personal, organizational, and political settings. You can find out more here: https://www.cnvc.org
What We Need & What You Get
To start production, we need $3,500 to:
- pay to reserve our performance space
- pay for our rehearsal space
- pay for the rights to the plays
- pay the designers to begin their designs
- pay the stage manager and director
What you get: That amazing feeling that you’ve helped artists in need, some good karma, the opportunity to see TWO great plays, and of course your choice of perks on the right.
