The Story So Far
In the summer of 2018, with the help of over 300 backers on Indiegogo, we produced Reborning by Zayd Dohrn in Vancouver, B.C. Our production starred Emily Bett Rickards, Paul Piaskowski and Lori Triolo, and was a hit with audiences and critics alike.

This year we have an incredible opportunity to bring our production of Reborning Off-Broadway to New York City for a 4.5 week run at the SoHo Playhouse from July 5 - August 3.
The Play
Art and life become disturbingly interchangeable when a sculptor of baby dolls meets a woman desperate to recreate the past.
Kelly is a Reborning artist - she creates lifelike dolls, often based on real babies - sometimes for collectors, other times for mothers dealing with the loss of their infants. Kelly lives with her boyfriend Daizy who is a sculptor of a different variety. Things take a dramatic turn for them both when new client Emily commissions baby doll Eva.
The dark comedy that ensues takes an unsettling look at love, loss, trauma, and the power of creation.

Emily Bett Rickards Kelly
Emily is a Canadian actress best know for her 7 seasons as Felicity Smoak on CW’s smash hit Arrow, as well as it’s spin-offs The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. She appeared in the Oscar nominated Brooklyn, and has been nominated for Leo Awards, Teen Choice Awards and MTV awards.

Paul Piaskowski Daizy
Paul is an actor and producer born in Warsaw, Poland, raised in Melbourne, Australia, currently calling Vancouver home. Recent theatre credits include The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh and Bug by Tracy Letts. He can currently be seen in the SundanceTV limited series Unspeakable and Jordan Peele's The Twilight Zone.

Lori Triolo Emily/Director
Originally from New York, Lori began the study of acting with Sanford Meisner at the Neighbourhood Playhouse. Lori has received Best Actress Leo Award and Leading Actress Jessie Award nominations for her work on both the screen and stage (including for her role in Reality Curve Theatre's production of Bug by Tracy Letts).

Reality Curve Theatre is a registered not-for-profit theatre company based in Vancouver B.C. Through the production of modern, relevant, and entertaining theatre our mission is to foster a positive perception and a new appreciation for the medium, attracting non-theatre goers and younger audiences to the theatre.
Wait.. What is Reborning?
A reborn doll is a manufactured doll that has been sculpted by an artist to resemble a human infant with as much realism as possible. The process of creating a reborn doll is referred to as reborning and the doll artists are referred to as reborners. Reborn dolls are also known as lifelike dolls or reborn baby dolls.

As a registered not-for-profit theatre company, funding is always a challenge. We need funds for a variety of production expenses, including music licensing, insurance, visa costs, travel costs, set construction, props, and production rights.
