Education for nearly one million children in Nepal is in jeopardy. The two major earthquakes and aftershocks that hit the country and surrounding areas devastated over 24,000 classrooms. In the severely-affected districts of Gorkha, Sindhupalchok and Nuwakot, it’s estimated that more than 90 per cent of schools have been destroyed.
My name is S Uthayakumar Biravar, my recent visit to the schools in Kavreplanchok about 30km away from the capital of Katmandhu was in a very bad and pitiful situation. The children totalled 90 were studying under a tree and under a tent. I am from Singapore, I together with my friends raised about $4800 to rebuild a temporary shelter consists of wood, bamboo, and zinc for the school Sundar Surya Dev school in Kavreplanchok district. There are about 7 such schools that needs help in the mountainous regions of Kavreplanchok. Total amount needed will be $32000 dollars.
Education gives hope and a good future to the children of Kavreplanchok. We are appealing to the kind hearted souls to contribute, to this good cause of rebuilding the children school. Compassionate souls who contribute to this good cause will be greatly remembered by the Creator. All funds will be directly used to buy materials, labour cost, stationaries for the children.
Putting a smile back into the children's life is something that cannot be expressed by a million words. And the impact is contagious for all those who had contributed for a good cause.
I am also working with Sanctuary Foundation to collect funds for the victims of Nepal Earthquake disasters
