Who We Are:

Recon Brewing (named after the first "jeep" invented in our hometown of Butler, PA - the Bantam Reconnaissance Car) was started by 3 close friends and their desire to create bold beers.  Toby Wehr, Dave Bestwick, and Nate Bacher began their friendship through their active roles in the fire service.  Toby and Dave both fire chiefs and Nate a paramedic, the Recon team has spent their entire adult lives serving the Butler community.  All of us are born and raised Butler-ites and share a deep passion for doing our part to improve our community and the livability of our town. 

Through our travels and many (many) liver punishing visits to breweries all over the country we dreamed of creating a brewery in our hometown that embodied the best of what we had experienced and ideas we created.  We have designed our taproom to be a rustic, relaxed environment to be filled with music and conversation.  The focus of our beer is to be bold yet drinkable. Featuring flagship hop-forward mouthwatering IPAs that are dank yet crushable, stouts that drink like a meal, and of course saisons, lagers, blondes, ryes, wheats, rotators, and seasonals to round out our offerings.  Our beer has been getting rave reviews at local brewfests and we are anxious to pour our creations in our very own taproom. 

What We Need & What You Get

We are in the home stretch of our project, here's our current status:

• Located at 1747 N. Main St Ext. Butler, PA
• Renovations more than 3/4 completed
• Federal Brewer's Notice (license to brew) in hand
• PA State Brewery License in hand
• 7 Barrel Brewhouse being constructed and awaiting delivery on April 1st 

So....we are well underway and are asking for your contribution to become part of our mission to push us to the finish line!  We will gain your valuable support and additional funds to put the finishing touches on our taproom and beer garden and in return you will gain our everlasting gratitude, some amazing gifts, and your name on our "Mission Supporters" wall in the brewery that will be a permanent testament of our thanks.

The Impact

Your contribution will make a real difference in the taproom experience. We will use the funds toward furniture, lighting, sound system, decorating, the bar build-out, glassware, and creation of our outside beer garden.  Additionally, your contributions biggest impact will be to help us stay completely independent and maintain our creative freedoms to deliver on our vision.

Risks & Challenges

There is no risk associated with your contribution. Each contribution will go 100% toward the project items listed above.  We are not asking for funds to start planning a brewery, we are humbly asking you to support a brewery (financially or in spirit) that will be open in a few months time.
