We are the
Unit 14 Theatre Company, and we are currently preparing for our second
production, Red by John Logan, at The
Shed at 1480 Old Deerfield Road on August 7-9. Founded in 2014 and run by young
adults, Unit 14 is dedicated to enhancing the artistic voice of young adults on
the North Shore.
Red is a play about Mark Rothko and
his assistant, Ken, as they complete a commission for the Four Seasons
Restaurant and contemplate the meaning of art in our world. This poignant work
on the relationship of master and apprentice, art and money provokes powerful
contemplation for all audience members.
Unit 14 is
dedicated to providing an authentic, professional environment for young adults
to be theatre-makers: there are plenty of summer acting training programs in
the Chicagoland area, and a few programs for designers and directors, but for
producers? Tech directors? No. Moreover, all of these programs have adults organizing such things as funding, material purchases, schedules, and publicity.
We are young adults taking on those jobs and experiencing the full process of putting on a show - but we can't do it with your help.
In our efforts to keep theatre available for all of our community, we have done everything we can to keep ticket prices low - that means we need donations to help continue our existence and continue making high-quality productions. Not only are you helping to support us in our passion of making theatre, you're helping other people see theatre too!
Even if you can't contribute to the campaign, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, tell your friends, or visit our website for details and ticket orders!
If you are affiliated with a business who would like to donate, contact us at unit14theatrecompany@gmail.com for details on program ads and other perks for donations or in-kind contributions.
