REDUX

What is Redux?
Redux is a short sci-fi about an ornithologist named Ethan who stumbles upon a box and discovers that when using his blood with this box he inherits this superhuman strength. With this new found ability, his fascination with birds quickly deters to the study of humans as his obsession with the box grows deeper. Ethan then begins to question his sense of morality as he ponders the greater potential of this box. He then decides to start his own side project, in which he believes he can help evolve the social standard. However, what Ethan doesn't realize is that this strength is only an effect of the earlier stages of the box.
Who is Ethan?
Although Ethan finds great comfort in the world or birds, he finds great difficulty in the world of people. He's troubled by the social standard, but strives to become this moral ideal, which he sees in his older brother Jake. However, with this box, Ethan believes he can change that.

Director’s statement
All of Eugene’s films have never been simple. “Unconventional” seems to be a common theme in his movies because he loves to be innovative with the craft. He believes films are only limited to your imagination, and your imagination should have no boundaries. What makes you unique is the way you perceive the world. Eugene’s goal is to show his audience a world they’ve never seen before.
About the Director
Eugene Lok
![Euge Pic]()
Ever since he held his first camera at the age of 8, Eugene has been making films. He has always been fascinated by the film craft and what possibilities it can unfold. He loves building complex ideas because he enjoys the challenge of creating and capturing the illusion onto film. Now he’s 3,000 miles away from home, studying and developing his artistry in film at New York University.
During his years in college, Eugene has worked on many sets ranging from student short films to Hollywood feature lengths. He’s interned at Nickelodeon, Blumhouse and Lawrence Bender’s Production Company, A Band Apart. Film is his passion, and he does whatever he can to learn more and refine his craft. He strives to make visually stimulating films that push the boundaries of normal. For his Junior thesis, Eugene made an entire dinosaur suit for his film he wrote, directed, and edited called Stan the Dinosaur. The film is about a man who embodies himself as a dinosaur to forget the past that has fractured his reality.
