Our Story
Two friends hitchhike down an Arkansas road in the middle of summer. They are late for a music event and must find a way to get there by night fall. The one person who DOES picks them up is a contemporary, hipster take on "The Good Samaritan." Along the way, they have some Gin & Tonic.
Inspired by two songs by local Memphis band The Reverent Hitchhikers, this film shows some of the best known neighborhoods in Memphis -- especially Black Lodge Video in the Cooper/Young area.
My name is John Clarke Sweeney and I am a young filmmaker! I'm also a writer, and hope to make my debut with this short film. Inspired by the songs (and wit) of local band The Reverent Hitchhikers, I began co-writing with my Director, Bradford Newlin. We both share a love of storytelling, so I brought him on board. Also, we're both tired of people complaining about Memphis. While I can't stop that, I CAN show the good side of this city.
This is the first time I've produced a film, short or feature. I've sat in class, learning terms and practicing pans and tilts; but now I'm ready to get out there and make a movie!
The Impact
This short film will show how nice and sincere people are to one another, even in a day-and-age where we are much more skeptical of each other. No matter how crazy we are, there is still room to help another human being (or two) out in their time of need.
What We Need
Here is a breakdown of what we need funds:

Other Ways You Can Help

Stay reverent and keep on hitchhikin'!
