BACKGROUND:The inspiration for this project came in the fall when I was sitting in my dorm watching football. I began talking about how much I already missed baseball season. The friends from the hall remarked that baseball was no longer America’s pastime and it has been surpassed by both football and basketball. He even went so far as to say the world cup is more interesting than the playoffs. This didn’t sit well with me that my friends and avid sports fans of my generation thought this way about the sport that has run through my veins since Tee-Ball. Immediately, I took it upon myself to show the nation why baseball is and always will be America’s game.
Partner: I recruited my best friend to accompany me to complete this project. I am a first year Varsity Pitcher at Virginia Military Institute, and my best friend is a first year pitcher at the University of Virginia. Coincidentally, we both have had season ending injuries and multiple surgeries. These injuries have opened our eyes to another side of baseball.
The Project: We are going to take to the road to document and capture everything that makes baseball great! This project is not just another 30 stadium tour.
It is meant to document and promote the sport that has always brought our nation together.
We plan to document all the things that make each ballpark and team special, for every venue has something different and special to offer our great game; most importantly we are on a mission to find the small subtle delicacies that separate baseball from all other sports on earth. Our final account will solidify baseball as America’s game.
We will be documenting:
- Stadiums
- Memorials
- Statues
- Emotions
- Fans
- Delicacies
- Players
- EVERYTHING
We will provide you with professional grade photographs of all the beautiful things that make Baseball truly Perfect!
In documenting our project, we will keep a live twitter feed to keep up with our supporters along the way. Follow us @TT_StadiumTour. Once the adventure is complete we will create a website documenting the journey. We wanted to reach out and ask for your help and support of this trip. Financially, it isn’t easy traveling the country on two college athletes income, which is zero. We hope you will share our passion and make it easier to find what makes each ballpark special. When we set out to do something, we do it 110%.
The money is only going to travel, equipment fees and publishing. We will be living out of our car. We will not be sleeping in hotels or using this money for souvenirs. We plan to invest our own money for food and tickets. This project is strictly to establish the great sport that we love.
