Why Riot Grrrl Sessions?
There are so many talented riot grrrls out there and everyone are busy with their current bands, which is awesome. But what if I was able to take only a minimum of their time to start something new? Because the world needs more great music. More Riot Grrrl music.
That’s how the whole idea of Riot Grrrl Sessions came alive. Canan Rosén, a punk rock musician from Stockholm, Sweden, felt lucky when she came up with the idea: One weekend in a studio, a dozen riot grrrls, writing, rehearsing and recording an album.
In the spirit of DIT- doing it together, the project will come alive.

What We Need & What You Get
We're a lot of people and need to record in a studio where there is room for everyone. Add costs for mixing and mastering and the 6000 Euros will be gone in an instant.
Any additional funding will go to a film team who can document the project. We would wanna see that documentary, don't you?!
When this project is done you have played a part in making an awesome album happen: Riot Grrrl Sessions - volume 1. (Volume 1? Yes, of course we're thinking this is a project that we should do again and again). We will release the album on vinyl and cd and of course on different streaming services. Estimated release of the album - spring 2018. This is not a pre order campaign of the album.
For now check out our perks. We're trying to get a decent mix of items and experiences. Get in touch if you're looking for something extra special or have any requests. We aim to please.
Risks & Challenges
The risks, well, we have not a single song written at the moment. The whole idea is to do everything in the studio. We can't promise we'll make 11, 13, 9, 12 or whatever number of songs. But all of us are really, really awesome musicians and songwriters with lots of experiences.
We can't promise that the line up will be the same as now. Tours and record releases may interfere with the project. But the project is only for a weekend, so fingers crossed. No one is replaceable but there are many more superb artists to ask if we need to fill up a spot or two.
If we don't get enough funding to pay for the studio time we'll work something out. A rehearsal space with more simple recording equipment maybe?
Out of cash?
We have all been in that situation sometime. The album will be available for streaming as well so you won't miss out. If you want to support the project in other ways please spread the word as loud as you can! That goes for you with cash too of course!
Again, who's behind all of this?
The founder of this project is Canan Rosén, a punk musician and artist from Stockholm Sweden, who has been playing guitar and bass in different punk and rock bands since her teens. Touring, releasing albums during the years with Twin Pigs, Attention Span, Tiger Bell, Fare You Well and Satirnine but like many others always wanted to have a riot grrrl band. This is it!
