What is RIPPLED REFLECTIONS?
RIPPLED REFLECTIONS is a new, original musical with a book by Nicholas Ryan (19 years old), and music/lyrics by Julie Murtha (18 years old). The show was a recipient of a Scholastic Art & Writing award for Best Dramatic Script in 2014. It has been a 3-year journey to write this piece and it is still developing with workshops. (A clip from the first reading can be seen above.)The next staged workshop will occur in early June in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
RIPPLED REFLECTIONS is about two people in love of the same sex, battling the forces that are driving them apart.
Hal and Tom are in love, but a dark secret from the past, threatens to tear their relationship and lives apart. RIPPLED REFLECTIONS is a story of love, courage and finding that their love is a true test of survival in a brutal world of intolerance.
What We Need
We have found it to be nearly impossible to get large/professional theaters to produce the material because the score has not yet been transcribed/engraved (written out on sheet music). The composer has written a beautifully complex score that she played from memory. As young writers/composers, it is difficult to have the correct music theory knowledge to write out the music ourselves onto staff paper; therefore, we must hire a professional.
- We need $1,500 to transcribe the score and get over this bump in the road so that the piece can flourish and grow!
- All of the money will be going to the professional musicians to help TRANSCRIBE and ENGRAVE (write out the complex score onto sheet music).
- Having sheet music available with the show will make it possible to send the show out to be produced professionally or on a larger scale.
- Special perks will be given for those whose donations match or are greater than the amounts shown to the right!
Every donation amount helps!
With every donation, you are supporting new artists, and an original idea/piece; and making our dream a little closer to coming true!
This piece is an important musical that touches on heavy subject matters. It is a story that needs to be told.
Other Ways You Can Help
Please spread the word to anyone you know who wants to support the arts. It is very difficult to get new work on its feet, especially from young writers. So please don't hesitate to blow up Facebook, Twitter and any other form of social media with your support of the show! Also, please use the Indiegogo share tools. Check out our website or social media pages for updates on the show! We hope to see you at our next workshop production! Thank you so much!
