Campaign Success
Hi Everyone, I have great news that I now announce with a
very very grateful heart & back. I
now have the funds to procure a ceiling mounted lifter with all the slings and
items I require. Between the support of
friends, family, people I have never even met and some terrific local business
people associated with my wife’s church this need has now been taken care
of. Which is all the bigger and more
generous an effort as the final cost is closer to $8000 AUD, not the $5500 USD
originally requested.
Under my agreement with Indegogo I need to let the campaign
run it’s course for the time agreed.
Hence it is still here and can still receive contributions. As stated in the campaign information “All
amounts raised, over or under my target of $5500 will be used diligently and
with good stewardship for my care only”.
I do have other important care needs that I would be glad to have help
with.
I am overwhelmed by the response received and its effect is
more far reaching than you may realize.
To be honest I have emotionally taken a beating from my health and the
pain in my back for some time. My
perception of my well-being and self value had been diminished. It took me weeks to start this campaign,
deciding if I was already beaten, if I was worth it and indeed if I was
prepared to risk another blow to my self-value if I had a poor response.
Pleased to say, that the response has left me with no doubt
that I do matter, that I do have a role to fulfill and that a lot of people are
looking out for me and Barb. That Is
Awesome to know a whole bunch of people has your back.
Someone who is awesome in her awesomeness is Pauline
my Occupational Therapist, way more than just a great O.T.. A motivator, a fearless tireless advocate
and part mind reader. Yes ‘I am Worth
It’, ‘I am Worth It’ and thank you Pauline for helping me see it.

About Rob
My name is Rob Chapman, I am 48 and have Muscular Dystrophy,
which is a muscle wasting disease. My
type of Muscular Dystrophy affects my arms, legs, torso and face. It is slowly progressive. I have been totally wheelchair bound for 11
years unable to walk at all. I am on a
modest fixed disability income.
What I Really Needs Is…
My campaign is to fund a new ceiling track mounted patient
lifter that uses supportive slings and traverses my bathroom transferring me
for showers and bathroom breaks. It
will prevent damage to my back and help my wife Barb move me around easier. The
cost of a suitable lifting hoist, sling and professional installation is about $5500
in total. Presently there is no clear
funding path from organizations where I live for this specific type of
equipment. I can’t do this on my own in
a timely manner so I am asking for your help.
All amounts raised, over or under my target of $5500 will be used
diligently and with good stewardship for my care only.
