CastleRock is an integrated development environment, and also an online robotics curriculum. Bugs and mistakes easily bored students, and we wanted to help them eliminate the trouble.
The programming language we chose is C++, an object-oriented language. Before CastleRock, students needed five hours to learn the coding logic and an additional two hours to write simple code. But now, the API between the hardware and software provides students an approachable, fun environment to practice coding, without diluting the academic rigor of C++.
The object-oriented programming, the real-time communication with RoboCore, and the new principle of robotic programming are all connected, which is the direction of our new curriculum development. We spent months conducting field research among American and Chinese students and came up with a series of new ideas on robotics education. Furthermore, we intend ultimately to improve the quality and functionality of CastleRock by iterative design and data analysis.
Each CastleRock account is its own path into the world of robotics; let each learner explore it individually. Multiple CastleRock accounts allow for you, your children, or your students to attempt all the learning challenges at their own pace.

Robots that You Can Build
Your robot’s movement will be generated by the input and output it processes. Inside the Origin™ Kit, you’ll find two light sensors, two black-white sensors, two buttons, and two sound sensors all used to input information into RoboCore. The two 180º Servo Motors, and 4 LED light bulbs yield the output RoboCore processes. This combination of input and output creates your robot’s movements.

How It Works
step by step: Openbox
from a kit to a robot
Think of a robot you’d like to build. What features will your robot have? Choose the right components. Then connect the hardware and software, and build your robot. Let your creativity fly!

Features
We believe anyone can become a robotics maker with the right tools. And our goal is to inspire young makers' confidence and creativity to realize their robotics dream.
1. The Brain of Your Robot: The RoboCore MicroController Board
Developed by the ROBOTERRA engineering team, RoboCore brings your robots to life. RoboCore collects and processes information, as well as makes decisions based on different data inputs.
2. Hardware, Software and Cloud Synergy
Hardware and software should be used in concert, not in isolation. ROBOTERRA builds on this marriage between hardware and software by offering an experience that involves both simultaneously. When students code in CastleRock (software), they see how their code manifests in their robot (hardware) immediately. This 360º look at robotics shows learners how programming & mechanics are the yin & yang of engineering.
3. Learning Robotics and C++ via Gamified Challenges
CastleRock provides makers with a set of gamified challenges that guide students through the curriculum. Learn more about CastleRock Online Learning Platform.
Students Love ROBOTERRA
At ROBOTERRA, we value creativity, collaboration, and the ability of problem-solving.

FAQ
1. Can adults use the Origin Kit and CastleRock to learn robotics?
Yes, absolutely! The kit is useful for anyone over 10 years old, who’s interested in robotics.
2. Can multiple users share one CastleRock account?
We strongly recommend each learner to have his/her own account.
3. Is parent supervision required when kids are using the kit?
Because the kit contains aluminum sheet metal and circuit board pins, we encourage users under age 13 to build in the presence of an adult. Parents can also enjoy building the robots with kids.
4. What kind of robot can I build with the kit?
Anything! The kit is not a roadmap to a predetermined destination. It’s a tool that students use to build whatever they can imagine.
