What We Need & What You Get
RODON© is future generation city bike that combines best characteristics of road-bike and traditional city bike: ergonomic and comfort.
RODON© body will be made from aluminum alloy and that will decrease its weight comparing to other bicycles that are mostly made out of steel alloys. Driving bicycle around city often implies carrying bike, for example up to stairs, so weight is very important characteristic for city bike. RODON© should not be heavier than 18kg. Beside its very light, aluminum is perfect material because it is very strong, resistant to corrosion and doesn’t require any special maintenance.
Rear wheel mechanism – “hubless wheel” will be made out of hardened stainless steel. Hubless wheel is centreless wheel. The hub is actually almost as big as the wheel itself. The axle is hollow, following the wheel at very close tolerances. This is going to be first wheel of this kind that will be factory manufacturing.
In the first production line I want to make limited numbers of RODON© bicycles and it will be limited to 200 bicycles. Since I don’t own workshop I will have to use services from some outsourcing company. It will cost 150 USD to produce one RODON© and that means that I need 30.000 USD for the first production line.
Each RODON© will be sold for 400 USD, what leaves profit of 50.000 USD. All profit will be used for developing the new generation of RODON©, that will be improved based on feedback given by the people that were using bicycle from the first edition. Second edition of RODON© will be made out of carbon fibers and it will be enhanced with shifter.
If I don’t raise enough money to make 200 bikes, as I planned, I will make as many as I can with raised money.

The Impact
Riding bicycle have countless positive impacts to peoples life. Numerous studies showed that bicycle riding can help people to have better sleep, increase brain power, stay in shape, look younger, fight different illnesses and even improve. Bicycle make you move faster trough city jungle, because you don’t need to wait in traffic during the rush hours. Also, driving the bicycle help you save the planet by reducing pollution.
With RODON© all this can be more fun. It will give you unique feeling of freedom, you can go wherever you want, whenever you want and how quickly you want, without being dependent on your car, taxi ore public transportation.

Risks & Challenges
I already make prototype of mechanism and its working properly. Also, I have done all static and dynamic simulations in CAE software and everything seems to work very well.
There is only very small possibility that rear pinion gear may not work exactly the way it supposed to work, but that is not that big problem coz I will just replace it with slightly bigger one and it will work perfectly.

Who Am I?
My name is Semih Ozdemir and my life started 27 years ago in Istanbul.
To make me look like a serious and reliable guy let me tell you few “serious” inputs about me: I graduated mechanical engineering at Marmara University and last nine years I have been working as product designer in numerous different companies and different countries, such as Defne Engineering (Istanbul), Turklift (Ankara), Mega Teknik (Ankara), HS Engineering (Mongolia- Russia).
Meanwhile
I have been working on freelance design too. Till this day I have
done the product design and the conceptual design of over 500
products that have been manufactured. Some of these are considerably
valuable while the others are small products.
Basically,
I’m simple guy that wants to change the world… No, I’m simple
guy that WILL change the world. Ok, maybe not whole world, but at
least one small part of it.
Everything
needs to start with the first step, right? Well, my first step in
changing the world is to change the bikes
and you need to admit it’s really good try!
