Overview
WELCOME! Hey there! Its Adele Schmidt and José Zegarra Holder, the producers of the documentary series on progressive rock "Romantic Warriors – A Progressive Music Saga". Our 4th film of the series, Romantic Warriors 4 - Krautrock (Part 1) is close to completion and we are asking for your support to push this film over the finish line. The fourth film covers the origins, Zeitgeist, and trajectory of the pioneering German 70s Krautrock bands from the Hamburg, Düsseldorf & Cologne regions.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

As you may know, we have released three films in the series: Romantic Warriors I (2010), Romantic Warriors II - About Rock in Opposition (2012), and Romantic Warriors III – Canterbury Tales (2015). These films have been screened and watched by thousands of progressive music fans around the world, contributing to the recent rise of interest in progressive music in this decade.

We have done the entire shoot of the film independently, and self-financed it without making any concessions to the traditional film industry.

If we appel to you, it's to cover the post-production cost, in other words, all of the image and sound editing, and to allow us to give you the film in the best conditions possible for video (and possibly, cinema) without any distribution restraint.

ABOUT THE FILM – ROMANTIC WARRIORS IV – KRAUTROCK (Part 1)

Developed in Germany in the late 60s and early 70s, and largely divorced from the traditional rock influences of British and American bands, the so-called Krautrock genre contributed to the evolution of electronic music, techno and hip hop, ambient music, minimalism and avant-garde.

In order to organize the large amount of material that we filmed over the past three years, we have divided Romantic Warriors IV into two parts. Part 1 focuses on the bands in the Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg regions, and Part 2 (to be released in late 2019) will be focusing on bands of the Berlin and Munich scenes . Both documentaries are feature lengths stand alone films.

Through interviews with "Krautrock" musicians, clips of live performances, photographs, and current/archival footage, the films will bring you onto a journey of remarkable times of musical innovation that has shaped the decades after.

Romantic Warriors IV – Krautrock (Part 1) highlights the following bands:

CAN • FAUST • KRAFTWERK • FLOH DE COLOGNE • NEU! • LA DÜSSELDORF • JAPANDORF • HARMONIA • KRAUTWERK • ELECTRIC ORANGE • WUME • DAMO SUZUKI NETWORK

Among the musicians of the Krautrock Scene (that were active in the 70s), the following have been interviewed for Part 1 of this film:

Jean-Hervé Peron, Zappi Diermaier, Malcolm Mooney, Jaki Liebezeit, Damo Suzuki, Irmin Schmidt, Wolfgang Flür, Eberhard Kranemann, Dieter Klemm, Dick Städtler, Theo König, Vridolin Enxing, Michael Rother, Miki Yui, Hans Lampe, and Harald Grosskopf.

Celebrated underground, the legacy of Krautrock music continues to flourish today in the innovative work of contemporary bands such as:

•  KRAUTWERK • ELECTRIC ORANGE • WUME • DAMO SUZUKI NETWORK

In addition, we'll hear the opinions of label owner Gunther Buskies (of Bureau B), legendary sound engineer René Tinner, experienced musicians such as Dirk Jan Müller & Dirk Bittner of Electric Orange, filmmaker Stephan Plank, and younger contemporary musicians such as Albert Schatz and April Camlin of Wume.

The film is sure to raise some controversy and debate. Most of all, however, it will send you back to listen to classic Krautrock cuts of the past, present -- and future.

YOUR HELP MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

We have been working tirelessly on this film for more than three years. 100% of movie has been  shot and the rough cut is close to completion.

We have created this film all on our own, with no support from grants, sponsors, funders, or financial backers. We've put in countless hours researching, investigating, planning, filming, and editing to get to where we are, and spent large amount of our own money to produce it, but without your help we can only go so far.

Now we need your help in getting the film over the finish line.

Join us in this campaign and you will be supporting the absolute most important part of this film: getting it seen by the world.

You can help in a number of ways. First and foremost — by donating to this IndieGoGo campaign. Your contribution will make the film's completion possible, and as thanks for your generosity, we we’ll have some awesome and unique perks for you.
