The Story
Logline: An original story about a man who lost his son, became Santa to many, reunites with his true love, and brings hope to all.
Short Summary: Nick misses his son around the holidays most of all. Nick cares for his elderly, but sharp-witted mother, Betty. He runs into his old girlfriend, Mary, at the store and they start dating again. Nick struggles working with his Dad, Ed, at the car lot and is reminded of what a failure he feels like. Nick tries to cheer up Mary and her Mother after an accident, and he decides to wear the Santa suit for the first time to cheer up patients in the hospital. He realizes through this experience that the only way he can heal his own grief and lack of self-esteem, is by serving others and bringing joy and smiles at Christmastime to children around town.
The story is still being finalized and some characters and situations may be revised in the final rewrite before production begins. Stay tuned. When you donate you will be the first to be in the know!
Director's Statement
I grew up believing in Santa Claus. It wasn't until much later in my life did I meet a real-life Santa. This story is inspired by true events and situations. Sometimes the heroes that make the greatest change in the world are those who are living amongst us. I learned a few years ago of one of my high school best friends that his Step Dad who had lost his own son now was playing Santa. I love the holidays and Christmas festivities and I wanted to learn more about this story.
I thought it was interesting to learn that the small town I grew up in at Central Pennsylvania now had a local Santa Claus. When I learned more about the story and started putting the pieces together, I realized that this story was actually miraculous. This kind hearted individual who had tragically lost his only son was now a Santa serving the families most in need. I was so inspired I began writing "Saint Nick" and I cannot wait to share this heart-warming story with the world.
