Short Summary

Hi, I'm Kelly Roth, co-founder and current director of the Dance in the Desert Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over the past 14 years we have presented hundreds of dancers and dance works to our audiences. Companies have come from the southwest, the east & west coasts, the midwest, and even Russia to share their enthusiasm for dance as an art form. Two weeks before this years Festival we were called to a meeting with college administrators where we were informed that funds for the event are no longer available and that Dance in the Desert's survival was not a prority. Of course, for those of us who know how essential art really is canceling the Festival is not an option. 17 companies are still gathering July 25-28 to perform, experince master classes, interact with the public, exchange information, and otherwise network, making friends with those who love the dance. I hate asking people for help but if you feel so inclined your contributions will go a long way toward reassuring the powers that be that dance IS and ever will be a priority! Thanks, so very much.
