Screw Year's Eve!
As the year draws to a close, A Buck Short Productions, the mavericks of indie horror cinema (That brought you classics such as FrankenThug and Mother Noose Presents Once Upon a Nightmare), are set to unleash their latest creation, "Screw Year's Eve," upon the world. This New Year's Eve, the party is at the edge of town, and you're invited... if you dare.
A group of friends decide to ring in the New Year at an extravagant 80s-themed party hosted in a remote warehouse at the edge of town. As the night unfolds, they quickly realize they are not alone. Trapped in a labyrinth of neon lights and retro nostalgia, they find themselves hunted by a merciless killer hell-bent on making sure they never see another year. Directed by Richard Tanner, written by Sean Donohue and starring Jessa Flux, Sushii Xyvette Holder, Danielle Page and Jon Devlin, this electrifying horror slasher will have you on the edge of your seat until the clock strikes midnight... if they make it that far.
Inspiration:
This film was inspired by the VHS art of 80s horror flicks. In particular, the cover of SleepAway Camp II: Unhappy Campers in which we see Pamela Springsteen trekking to camp with a backpack filled with iconic slasher’s weapons! But bait and switch!!! Not a single scene with her wearing a Jason Mask or stabbing someone with Freddy’s Claws! We’ve fixed all of that! Paying homage to legendary films such as Slumber Party Massacre, My Bloody Valentine, Friday the 13th and much much more!
More, More and More:
The film includes all new original music from The Casket Creatures and Dan Plunkett and the soundtrack will have you dancing til you die!
The special effects are eye popping and include prosthetics by none other than master of the grotesque, Marcus Koch!
The Risk:
The good news! There is no real risk with this movie. I have acquired the bare minimum to make the flick happen! However, bare minimum means exactly that… no frills, lots of tears and empty bowls. Your help will directly impact the film! Every dollar will go into making the kills just a little more gnarly, the cameos just a bit more rad and the set just a tad more tubular!
We have a proven success rate. Between the crew, we have nearly a dozen run successful campaigns and not once have we dropped the ball. Come hell or highwater, you will get what you order in a timely fashion!
About the Cast:
Jessa Flux, a versatile performer hailing from Evansville, Indiana, captivates audiences with her dynamic presence in independent horror films, showcasing her talents in cult favorites such as "Murdercise," "Debbie Does Demons," "Voorhees: Night of the Beast," and "Reunion From Hell.”
Danielle Page is the co-founder of A Buck Short Productions and back after a five year hiatus to show she still has what it takes to make you scream! Her former credits include “FrankenThug,” “Arte Factum,” “Amazon Hot Box,” and “Erecting a Monster!”
Sushii Xhyvette Holder is a fetish model, actress and fan favorite in the Florida horror scene and is ready to take on everything Georgia has to throw at her. Sushii is best known for her roles in “Death-Scort Service 2&3,” “Hellvira on the Run,” and “Swamp Woman,”
Jon Devlin, a former professional wrestler turned actor, writer, and director, has made several films over his 8-year career. Known for starring roles in “Joe Stryker,” “Mother Noose Presents Once Upon a Nightmare,” “Old Man Slaughter,” “Erecting a Monster,” and “Gracie,” Jon brings a wrestler's intensity and a storyteller's eye to every project.
About the Crew:
Richard Tanner is the award winning writer/director of “Room for Rent” and “FrankenThug” and “Mother Noose presents Once Upon a Nightmare.” He originally tried his hand at being a writer because it took him seven years to get an English degree and it was either that or become a barista. Shortly after the failed attempt at being the next great American novelist, Richard found himself serving coffee. It was here that he decided to give filmmaking a chance.
Thus, A Buck Short Productions was born….
Daniel Plunkett has been kicking it around the indie scene virtually unnoticed for years. He tends to hide behind the camera and is best known for shooting Cam Girl Killer, Erecting a Monster 2: Bride of the Monster, and Erecting a Monster 3: The ResErection. His love of filmmaking has taken him on a journey through grip and lighting to set design and prop making and landing on cinematography. If you ask him how are you planning on shooting this? His usual reply is, “I don’t know but we’ll figure it out.” Although Daniel loves coffee, he has not been a barista but has bought coffee from one but it wasn’t Richard Tanner.
Where Does the Money Go:
All money raised will go directly into the film. Decking out an entire warehouse in 80s garb isn’t cheap. The more authentic we can make it, the better. Vintage is key in today's world, right? Your money will enhance things from standing in front of a bare wall to standing in front of that weird JC Penny’s Lazer background from the portrait studio we all have. Check out little me! (insert kid pic). It will also help feed the cast and crew and upgrade music rights and hopefully get a few more roles from legendary scream queens in the film. Every dime makes a difference in the microbudget world!
