This product is for people wishing to explore further and are curious about the universe. We live in a global community where we can travel across the globe pretty easily compared to our ancestors, which means we spend a lot of time far from those that we care about. And phone calls are not always possible due to busy schedules and different time zones.

Sadly, now we are experiencing the other extreme, where our movement is restricted and so we have much less connection to those outside our homes. We understood that in both realities an enhanced sense of orientation, location, proximity and navigation is very relevant to our existing life and future as a species - how we move and connect to one another on our planet and beyond.  Sentero allows you to stay connected through personalized haptic stimulations.

The device extends your sensory reach beyond that of you visual field, allowing you to feel Nests that in distant locations.

Sense people and places when you turn to face them (left picture) or if you hold your arm out to scan for their direction (right picture).

It works like most of our senses, based on directional sensory input - when you look at something you see it, when you turn away you see something else. With Sentero when you turn to face the direction of a Nest you will receive a novel haptic stimulus (vibration), giving you the new perception of their location through touch, wherever they may be on the planet.

Over time your brain learns to associate a specific vibration with the person or place you have chosen to sense, just as we learn to recognise a group of letters as a word. The haptic stimulus moves from being a conscious perception to an unconscious one, meaning you no longer have to think of what you are sensing you just know - creating an enhanced sense of orientation!

Use the Sentero App to choose which Nests you want to sense and personalise the haptic patterns for each. 

Only connected wearers can consent to sense each other, and you can turn on/off others permission to sense you anytime.

The ability to Sense the Magnetic North is always ON and connects you to the planet we live on. We experience the world through our senses - but they are limited. By adding a new perception of the magnetic field, like birds have, we open up our world to experience new realities.

Location Nests - You can sense locations that have meaning for you - home, your studio, a place of memories, and even the stars!

Sentero can sense anything that has gps coordinates, and using an API you can create new content for this sense which can be used for major industries, such as Gaming, VR, Social Media, Travelling … let your imagination flourish. You could then share your creation for other Sentero owners to use and enjoy. ​

You can choose to use Sentero in combination with the SiiD implant to enhance your cyborg experience. By injecting the programmable NFC chip you will receive extra features.

To close the loop, when a Nest is sensed, by tapping on your SIID implant with your smartphone you can trigger an app or web-link that links to the person or place we are sensing. Send them a message, call them, open a picture of you together or post something on their social media.

The perception of an enhanced human, or 'cyborg', is often seen as the physical integration of technology and the human body. This vision predominantly comes from fiction, we see it slightly differently. After the release of the NorthSense we saw the impact it had on the owners perception of reality, augmenting their understanding of space and enhancing memory recall. It was clear that our focus should be on the affect our technology could have on the brain, which adapts to the new sensory input through neuroplasticity. Whether physically connected, implanted, or simply worn, devices mediate our perception of our world and create a hybrid cognition.

Neuroscience research has demonstrated that memories have a spatial grid-like representation suggesting that the mechanisms of spatial and episodic memory are similarly structured. In this case, having an additional sensory reference in spatial memory could improve both spatial and episodic memory encoding and retrieval.

Sentero can increase your feeling of connectedness, help to minimise feelings of social isolation and thereby improve mental wellbeing. Whereas social media connections are abstract and therefore hard to concretise Sentero makes connections concrete, physical and directly relatable.

The ability to Sense the Magnetic North is always ON and connects you to the planet we live on, this acts as a cognitive anchor.

You can sense where your home is, or other locations that have meaning for you. You can navigate there like a bird.

THE SCIENCE OF ORIENTATION

At its core, the Sentero provides an external spatial point of reference that extends your local, egocentric sense of space (what you see, hear and feel) to a global, allocentric sense of orientation. The result of having an allocentric spatial sense is especially apparent in cities or inside buildings. In these environments we rely on memory to maintain our orientation relative to the external world. However, spatial memory on its own is not reliable and can easily lead to getting lost or confused, so having a constant point of reference alleviates this issue and allows your mind to realign itself.

Having a permanent external spatial point of reference means that you intuitively link the relative orientation of different locations. In practice this means that you, for example, intuitively relate the orientation of your dining table at home to the orientation of your desk at work.

The device is designed to sit on your inner arm, forearm or upper arm, which enables you to feel the vibrations best and detect your heart rate. You can adjust the strap size to fit you, depending on where you would like to wear Sentero. 

Sentero can sense directions when your arm is in a resting position (pointing downward) or if you reach your arm out to determine the direction of a Nest. 

The most important thing is that you always wear it on the same spot so that your brain learns to associate each vibration with a Nest - over time becoming a new sense of orientation!

Manufacturing and delivery delays due to the global pandemic have been taken into consideration for this timeline - therefore the delivery date is the latest we anticipate it being in the current circumstances, but will hopefully be earlier!
