A new community centered, truly independent local radio station, needs your help to break the current monopoly and monotony!
Of the 24 mainstream 'local' FM & digital radio stations serving the UK Counties of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire, all but one are owned & programmed by just five companies: Global Radio, BBC, UKRD, Bauer Media & the Adventure Radio Group.

Local radio is about place and all places are different. We believe that the radio should be different too.
Serious Radio UK will give you a choice AND a voice. We will highlight parts of the region you love, amplifying its voices and sounds. We will be a station for the people, businesses & organisations who live & work in these three counties.

As part of your community, we will drive to deliver not just entertainment, but also empowerment, optimism, fun and a collective that will support you in your everyday life.

Why Serious Radio?
We will be locally owned and operated. Not networked from a studio in London with presenters that have no connection to the people or locality they are broadcasting to.
Why Serious Radio?
- We are serious about supporting the communities and being a regular presence, including frequent live shows from the towns and communities.
- We are serious about providing a voice and a platform to generate and enhance community interaction as well as promotion for events of all types, not just the 'showcase' ones!

Just like Serious Radio UK; Biggleswade United FC is at the beginning of what they hope and anticipate to be an extremely exciting journey. They believe in an approach to football that is not only played the right way, but unites people and communities who have a passion for all aspects of football. Here at Serious Radio UK, we too have a desire, to provide radio that not only is entertaining but that engages the communities and provides added value.
Our partnership will include live broadcasts and commentary from the club and involvement in their community projects.
And who knows, we may even persuade United's Director of Football and Sky Sports presenter, Guillem Balague to present a show!

Serious Radio UK is an official partner of VisionHeart Limited; an organisation dedicated to the delivery of emotional intelligence education and training programmes to schools and businesses worldwide.
VisonHeart Limited is spearheaded by The Scary Guy, a unique entertainer and educator whose mission is:
The total elimination of Hate, Violence and Prejudice Worldwide.
Not only will Serious Radio UK be the exclusive home of 'The Scary Guy Radio Show', but we will work with him to bring his powerful education programmes to schools and organisations across Herts, Beds & Bucks.
Help us to help you
With your help and support, this Indiegogo campaign will enable us to get Serious Radio UK on the air. The funding will be used for broadcast equipment and some marketing, but the largest proportion will be to obtain the digital broadcast licence. Running a radio station isn't cheap!
Unfortunately when it comes to the licence, we can't 'shop around' for the best deal as all licences are regulated and provided by just one organisation.
However, while this annual cost may be prohibitive for many small stations - one reason we feel the big corporations dominate the airwaves - we have a solid business plan to cover this cost and once 'on air', we will offer the best deal to our listeners, advertisers and sponsors. Providing a radio service as we believe it was intended and offering incredible value.
Sadly we are not multi millionaire businessmen. Nor do we have access to funds from another part of a huge corporation. This is why we are seeking your help to take on the establishment by asking kindly for your backing. In return we have compiled a great set of 'perks' (see below).

Risks & Challenges
As mentioned above, most of the radio in the UK is owned by large media corporations, with huge budgets and a seemingly virtual monopoly on the airwaves.
Because of this, it is rare for a new station such as ours to try and break in to this market.
However, by 'networking' they might be increasing their audience, but they can no longer be considered as 'local radio'.
This is where we believe we can offer real choice and provide a proper local service to our listeners. We have a solid business plan in place and have met with some of the influential business leaders across the three counties. The feedback we have received to our creative ideas has been extremely positive.
Unfortunately, we can't share these ideas with you here on Indiegogo. Our competitors may be looking!!
